U.S. Army All-American Bowl open thread

Submitted by Magnus on

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is being played today at 1:00 p.m. EST on NBC. Unfortunately, Michigan has zero commits playing in the game, but there are several targets, some former commits, and a couple guys who could end up at Michigan before all is said and done.

I've listed Michigan's offered prospects here:

http://touchthebanner.blogspot.com/2015/01/2015-us-army-all-american-bo…

The players making commitments today are:

WR Lawrence Cager
TE Devonaire Clarington
DT Neville Gallimore
CB Tim Irvin
WR Stanley Norman
DE Kyle Phillips
WR Ykili Ross
S Marvell Tell
DE D'Andre Walker

Is Harbaugh or any UM rep at this game? Is the dead period over? Just wondering if we should expect any news out of this game. Also, in water is wet news, our future DC is on at Noon.

I don't know why people don't actually like you, but the reasons people tend to spew are all pretty dumb.  "What do you know, aren't you like a middle school football coach or something? As an assistant IT manager, I know way more than you."  That seems to be the typical dig.

Yeah, that's a pretty consistent "insult." I don't really get it, either. The funny thing is that those same insults aren't directed at Brian, Ace, Tim Sullivan, etc., none of whom have a history of playing or coaching football (AFAIK; please correct me if I'm wrong). So I guess there must be something more to people's dislike for me, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

let's quit talking about why you think you get negged.  It's the internet after all.  But characterizing those who disagree with you as the "hive mind" may be a partial explanation. Sometimes you get what you sow.

Oh--I haven't negged you here.

The Army AA game used to be the best, but now it's quite a bit less prestigious than the UA game. I wish they would start inviting better players.

I don't really agree with that. If you look at the top 10 players in the 247 Composite rankings, 5 of them are in the Army game, including the top two players overall. It's just the Under Armour game gets more hype because of its fancy uniforms and being presented on ESPN right off the bat.

Man, reading that list shows you what a crapshoot recruiting is.  More than half these guys never wound up doing anything of note, and keep in mind these are all Army All Americans.

I've watched these AAA games for many years, and many of the names I was most excited about, such as big Will Campbell, were not the guys that had a big impact.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of names on this list that I didn't even realize were AAA's because they were not getting a lot of hype at the time, such as Gallon.

Just wondering how many hat fakes we'll be subjected to? Hopefully everyone can at least pronounce the name of the school they are committing to correctly this year.

Would be interested to hear your predictions on:

#5 stars (by any service) pulled in before signing day:

#of total recruits that ultimately sign

# of wins in Harbaugh's first year

I'll make some predictions just for poops and giggles, but I reserve the right to change my mind.

5-stars: 1. Michigan might swing Chuma Edoga, Keisean Lucier-South, or Iman Marshall (using Rivals's rankings).

Total recruits: 8 (plus the 6 we already have) for a total of 14.

Wins: 9. Just because.
