Mason Cole is the only Michigan commit playing in the game today. But 3 names to watch for are: Erick Smith, Marshon Lattimore, and Malik McDowell. You may also recognize some other names of guys Michigan recruited: Elijah Hood, Artavis Scott, and Damon Webb.

Some analysts believe Smith and/Lattimore might commit to Michigan today. I have to say I am very skeptical of that. But it is certainly something to watch for.

I am starting the open thread early to help make more people aware that the game is on today. I wanted to make sure everyone knew the time and channel to be watching for. It should be a pretty good game as far as All-American games go.

BTW, the website for the bowl game has a countdown that ends in 3 hours and 10 minutes, which puts it at 12:00 p.m. ET. But other websites have it listed as starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports channel likes to show graphics and post as if their pregame show is the start of the game. I noticed this during the Stanley Cup playoffs. They would show a graphic for next game in the series saying it started at 6 when it was actually 7 puck drop and pregame start at 6. Sneaky way to draw nj viewers early and get some ratings.

I think talent the past couple years has been trending toward the UA game. I just think players are more attracted to the uniforms, ESPN's production, the ESPN and Under Armour brands, etc. It's kind of sad because I think the Army thing is a cool opportunity for kids and soldiers to interact, but I guess kids and soldiers are still getting the same opportunity...it's just not necessarily the same caliber of player.

Either way, there's plenty of talent to go around. Even if you put the top 100 kids in one game, you still have #101-200 playing in the other. You're going to be able to see some great football in either game.

The football sucks in both games and has ever since ESPN really came into the picture.

Back in the day when it was just the Army AA Game, the quality of play was actually pretty damn good.

I'd reckon that guys like Adrian Peterson and Desean Jackson, two guys who played well in their Army Games would now be at the ESPN game in this day and age.

I'd almost prefer that they put 1-100 in one and 101-200 in the other. Because right now they're both pretty bad in terms of play on the field.

You'll get a handful of great plays, but overall, it's not even Spring Game quality.

I wouldn't have checked later and it would have been too late.

I forgot to watch the bball game thursday, because no helpful posters posted early game threads...

Smith and Lattimore might commit to Michigan? I might walk on to the team and be the starting QB next fall, but I doubt it. The only analyst that thinks that, must be one helluva homer. Sliver of hope with Smith, but Lattimore isn't happening.

Ginn Sr likes Hoke and wouldn't put up with that. If pizza boy did tell them to do that and they do do it, that could damage the Glenville pipeline for ohio.

CG kids in the early Tressel years used to take UM visits just to waste our time. I think it was Whitner who took his and wore osu gear all during his visit. Teddy Ginn Jr later (when asked about the rivalry as a pro) joked about how he actually liked UM more add a kid but only visited there to "use time on me that they could have used on another kid". MoC wasn't a CG kid but he was likely UM bound before JT got there. He took his official to UM for The Game and sat in the osu section wearing osu gear (IIRC, that or we didn't allow him to visit because he says he was going to). Carr and Ginn had bad blood over Carr disciplining Pierre Woods (Woods, right?). It was no secret. Ginn absolutely has toyed and helped toy with UM and still steers his top kids to osu. RR & Hoke opened the door back up but by no means are we a place he gives a fair share to. More like "I'd rather a kid of mine go to UM than Illinois/MAC late in the process" relationship. As for urbz, he openly made jokes out of getting solid commits at UF to visit FSU, UGA, etc. The players wouldn't even keep it a secret after a year at UF. They'd laugh about it, go how Meyer would get groups of kids already committed or a kid who just committed by phone/person to troll other schools, waste their time with bogus visits. Sounds like a bad idea that could backfire but I guess he knew how to hold them and/or who to ask to do it. It's no secret. Why wouldn't he do it at osu?

Maybe I missed this from somewhere else, but does anyone know a timeframe for those announcements? I am nowhere near a TV but I would like to pull up a stream on my computer when the time comes.

Thanks!

Smith and Lattimore are not coming here and them putting out the vibe that Michigan could be in it to win it is simply them messing with us. This idea that Ted Ginn Sr. wouldn't stand for it is bunk. They don't play for him anymore. Do you honestly think he has that much control over his players that he controls their immature impulses at every turn? You people need to wake up if you think some 18 year old kids from Ohio wouldn't try to mess with the Michigan football program if given the chance.

Plus, this game has 8 people already committed to Ohio playing in it. I could see them all talking to each other and they still are teenagers.
