It is pretty stupid that BH and most of the fan base now refer to them as Ohio.

Most of us are well aware that it is not a very good school, and a lot of dirty shit tends to go down over there... don't really know what the nickname adds

I dislike/hate OSU as much as anyone else here, but we have our weirdness about it as well.

...to OSU's own radio announcer, back in the 60s and 70s, referring to the school as "Ohio"? "Wisconsin has the ball, first and ten on the Ohio 42." That was standard usage back then.

I'm not sure when this changed but I'm pretty sure this was still common when I left the state in the early 80s. Maybe it had something to do with the whole Ohio U./OHIO legal scuffle.

Are you actually trying to say that Brady Hoke, and a vast majority of Michigan fans, are calling OSU Ohio because OSU was sometimes referred to as Ohio in the 60's and 70's by the radio announcer, or because OSU occasionally was referred to as Ohio in the early 80's?

If so.... you be crazy man... you be crazy.

If not, than what's your point?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I get a good laugh every time I use "Ohio" to one of my Bucknut relatives who, 20 or 30 years ago, used the term themselves routinely for the school but now bristle as if it's some sort of vulgar insult.

Hoke's about my age and like me he grew up a Michigan fan in Ohio. Maybe he feels the same way, maybe not. Either way, the fact that the name of the state is seen as insulting is good ironic fun, isn't it?

All of this Michigan hate feels fake for Urban, especially given his previous contractual outs for Michigan and OSU. With Hoke, on the other hand, who would only leave for Michigan, it feels genuine. I guess that isn't a surprise.

Don't forget ND ...it was two BLUE schools and one RED and a Blue and Orange program that he went to, after leveraging the ND opening eventually going to Weis. Urbz is a lying sack of sh*t and virtually nothing about him is "genuine" ...not even his health or desire to be with his family. Just more crap and at SDSU Hoke wouldn't wear red ...at least he's the real deal in the rivalry.

As has been shared on the boad numerous times since Hoke was hired, there are numerous examples of Ohio State using the "Ohio" terminology.

1st & foremost is script Ohio, not script Ohio State.  The scoreboatds that read Ohio, not Ohio State, etc.

If I was a recruit or his parents, I would be extermely concerned with Urban Meyer risking alienating even one NFL scout.  One scout's report about attitude can make or cost an athlete millions of dollars over his rookie contract.  I am not saying it happens on a regular basis, or even that it will, but is it worth the risk to attend a school that could sabotage one's earning power?
