a private consultant to find some loopholes in the policy.

EDIT:  All kidding aside, I have no doubt that he means it and this is a direct response to the incident from last year.  Given the makeup of college football nowadays, and the potential for this game to get a little heated, I highly doubt he would go back on this promise if someone did throw a punch.

I think St. Urban was on the TV panel for that game, and he was disgusted by what Tom Gholson did. IIRC he said he should be thrown out of the game and suspended.

Yeah, barf, whatever. Wonder if Hall hadn't been suspended by the B1G if Urbz would have bothered issuing this missive.

I wish our team was so fired up and intensely focused on beating OSU that Hoke had to issue such an edict to Michigan to not punch somebody.

All Hoke has to do remind them to not bring their camping gear onto the field and we're ok.

This is because Urban is going to use this game to demonstrate how superior his team is. He is aiming for this to be an absolute clinic at many levels and wants to show recruits and their families why OSU is the place to go. He plans on perfect annihilation to use to his advantage. This is what is going on in his mind.

Man...I hate the feeling going into this one...just feels like doomsday going into Hell (CBus). I've never felt this way leading up to The Game. There is just so much momentum pushing the two programs in opposite directions...please let this be the bottom.

LDNfan: don't worry.  The nightmare will soon be over.  After seven years of backstabbing, incopmpetent administration, and shoddy on-field results, those who have any influence in the program can see that they need to hire a real coach and give that coach full support.

RR is a great coach who got no support.  Hoke is a mediocre coach who got full support.  This time, a great coach is going to get full support.  By Christmas, we will all be in the full optimist mode.

For a second I was thinking "Damn, I guess Urbz really is a quality coach of integrity by asking his players to show good sportsmanship" then I read his comments and realized the only reason that no-chinned cork snorkler took the position was to help maximize his team's chances to win the Big Ten Championship game by avoiding suspensions...  So it had nothing to do with integrity or his conscience and everything to do about winning... Douche.

Honestly, a fight might be more exciting than the actual game. This is why last year's game was actually such a great time to watch(not to mention it was randomly like 70 degrees that day).

Am I the only one who thinks throwing a single punch really isn't that big of a deal during a football game? I'm not talking about hitting someone on the ground or starting a brawl, but I thought it was ridiculous that Gholston was suspended for punching Lewan in the helmet and got nothing for twisting Denard's helmet while he was on the ground, for one crazy example.

I get that it's unsportsmanlike and should obviously get flagged, but dismissing someone from a team for hitting a guy wearing a helmet seems crazy to me.

Getting thrown off the team is a big gauntlet to throw publicly, especially in this game. I don't have encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the game, but I would imagine you'd be hard pressed to find one game where a punch wasn't thrown, a player didn't get shoved away from the play, etc...It might not be very competitive as of late, but it's always been contentious and will continue to be.
