it's great to be back in a place where most people can spell. But I must say that if you were after a great player and you saw that another team had acted contrary to the rules in pursuing him, you could not be condemned out-of-hand for calling attention to it.

It says something about our general lack of moral compass that almost every commenter pilloried Meyer for telling. Yes, he's another lowlife in priest's garb, like Tressel. But most commenters were just looking for a place to dump their prior hatred of the guy.

but it was found that there was no wrong doing in this instance. If there was really an issue and a coach told I could see. I wouldn't necessarily do it myself, but at least I could understand why another person did such a thing. In this case however, nothing appears to have been amiss.

Also, most of the commentors that chimed in are fans who have had a first hand look at what Coach Meyer is all about so I can't really fault any of them for what they say. Nothing they said was untrue so mentioning this latest issue along with his long line of previous issues seems quite reasonable to me.

What the writer seems to be implying (whether he is right or not, who knows) is that Meyer knew of no misconduct on Florida's part and was either a) simply throwing stuff at a wall and hoping something stuck or b) deliberately putting this out there to get the NCAA to take a look into Florida recruiting in hopes of turning a recruit off the school.

If either of these implications are true it just further solidifies Urban Meyer's place among the many cheap, sleezey head coaching currently running football programs in the NCAA. Thankfully, we have no such concerns here in AA.

I find it hard to believe that you could read that title and not know this was going to be "another topic about Urban Meyer". If you didn't want to read it there are other topics on the board you could have chosen. Why click on something you aren't interested in just to bemoan the fact that it exists?

The mods are here for a reason and if they didn't think this topic was appropriate it would have been deleted. Since they didn't, just let those who are interested click on the very informative title and make a comment about the thread, and those that aren't can read the title and see it is nothing they wish to read and move on.

I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk, but I would rather see 100 informative titles on the board with something to do with MSU in them than click on a thread and find more of these "oh great...another ______ thread". Because when it is an informative title about something I don't like, I just don't click it. But in this case I clicked on a thread I thought might be interesting and found a comment like yours.

Let's all just read what titles we want, ignore the ones we don't and leave the moderating to the mods.

that I wonder if there's a backstory...maybe the UF coaches have been talking crap about Meyer to recruits both schools are going after.

If that's not the case, then Meyer has just put a huge bullseye on his back. College coaching and especially recruiting are relationship businesses, and there have to be a lot of HS programs down in FLA and other southern states that have longstanding relationships with UF, and have sent kids there. This isn't going to sit well with those coaches, nor will it help Meyer with any coaches who have relationships with Muschamp.

No offense meant to the OP, but I hate that I clicked on the article. Clay Travis is a tool. The fact that he has managed to get a job with a (respectable?) news outlet causes me to further lose faith in God and man!

He does drive home sports talk here in Nashville. As with most everyone in that profession, he just says things to get reactions, only he seems to take it to a new level. At least he did, as I have not listened to him for a while now as it hurts my ears.

Just always keep in mind whenever you are reading anything where he claims to have inside scoop on something, he is 99.999% full of crap.

I have lived in Columbus for many years, and I do enjoy listening to local media and fans defend Meyer for the same schnanigans they ripped him for in years past.  Honestly, it seems Meyer has become bigger than the football program already.

I wonder if these stories will become more common now that OSU has lost the inside track to Mark Emmert through Gee. Can you still call on favors after you "retire"?

Maybe "blame" is too strong of a word.  However, it is clear that Hernandez got a way with a lot of misbehavior, to say the least.  If Meyer didn't hold him accountable as a student athlete at Florida, then he may have been an enabling factor in the continued misbehavior by Hernandez.

Who knows, maybe Meyer did some things (pull strings?)  to help Hernandez get away with some of those things - hopefully, it all comes out at some point.

Hernandez got away with crimes and I'm sure he thought he'd get away with the last one too.

This guy has 2-3 incidents while at Florida (did he get charged in any of them?) Spends a total of 3 years with Urban Meyer, leaves and spends 3 years in New England (where there were no trouble issues right?) and it is somehow Urban's fault he decided to murder a guy?

According to the OSU faithful at an unamed site with a number in it's title.......

"Hey guess what UF, Urban walked across a bridge already to the big time at tOSU, and he burnt down the bridge leading back to your stupid little swamp."
