Urban Meyer is a scumbag
First, he had a heart muscle condition, where he had heart pains every day, but battled through it for the young men he coaches. Then, it morphed into chest pains, with the requisite BS, then he had "anxiety", and now CBS said he is coming back and it's not a big deal.
What a prima-dona. Since he and his mule, Teabogod is not in the NC game, he needs to get some press.
Thank God he can overcome his own "serious heart problems" to coach college football (and earn ~$5 million a year). What a guy.
P.S. I think scum is more appropriate than douche.

The Gators will not be relevant next season anyhow, so it matters little whether Urban sticks around. The power balance in the SEC has shifted to Alabama, and the teams Florida used to handle of late will be much improved in 2010.

Thanks internet tough guy.

I'm sorry, that was a bit harsh, but isn't that just what you did to Urban Meyer?
December 27th, 2009 at 11:11 PM ^
it's "pre-madonna"
December 27th, 2009 at 11:41 PM ^
"Prima donna" is Italian for "first lady," referring to the lead female singer in an opera.

For all intensive purposes, your a Moran.
(You clearly don't spend enough time on MGoBlog, it is one of many inside jokes. I don't really think you're a moron)

That actually did occur to me before I corrected the correcter, but I erred on the side of the spelling and grammar police.

I was upset at both Meyer and the media for allowing the news to break right before USC/ BC's Emerald Bowl and taking attention away from these teams' bowl game. There was literally one College Football related thing going on in the whole nation at 8pm e.t. (aka Prime TIme) and Meyer's HUGE story breaks during it. I would think the media is more to blame than Meyer, but either way... classless timing
December 27th, 2009 at 11:25 PM ^
He's a lying sack of shit, that's all. He creates a lot of drama for no reason. If he went out to deliberately hurt someone or screw someone over, then yeah he'd be a scumbag. But I tend to think he's not all mentally there by how he went about this. Maybe he has a tumah?
December 27th, 2009 at 11:39 PM ^
Iz noat ah tumah!

Buck Nasty has reviewed your credentials and would like to officially invite you to the sixth annual Player Haterz Ball to be held in sunny Orlando.

Hm, let's just start talking trash about people we know nothing about.
I'm sure your assessment of Urban is 100% correct friend.

Retire tomorrow, then come into work on Tuesday and say "just kidding!" I don't care why you retired, no one is going to be terribly impressed by your lack of composure. For all the supposed piling on of Meyer, I see more blind hero worship of athletes and coaches on this board.

but not for the reasons you think

It's a ND blog, but runs down a host of "issues" with the coach.
December 28th, 2009 at 1:29 AM ^
Can't really agree with this. This isn't like Brett Favre deciding to retire/unretire umpteen times "just because", this is due to perfectly valid reasons. Changing his mind overnight obviously comes off like a prima donna move, but isn't making the right choice more important than stubbornly sticking to the wrong choice?
And on a completely unrelated note, Urban is a fantastic coach. Anyone who says differently really needs to look at all he's accomplished at every coaching stop he's made.

Scum anything should not be in any Michigan fan's vocabulary.
December 28th, 2009 at 3:04 AM ^
This post is freaking stupid, plenty of "scumbag" coaches out there but Meyer is not one of them. Taking a year off (maybe) to improve his health? Wow what a crime
December 28th, 2009 at 3:12 AM ^
You loser! Do you even know him? I do. I have a million dollars that says he is 100 times more of a stand-up guy than you'll ever be. For a matter fact, he probably has about $5 million that says the same thing. Get-a-life!!! You have no idea what these coaches go through. Obviously his record is an indication that maybe he isn't wired the way NORMAL coaches are, hence the multiple Championships and unmatched winning percentage in a relatively short coaching career.
December 28th, 2009 at 6:36 PM ^
Talk about a stand up guy: I adopt lepers from far off make believe countries and give them 5 million dollars (I have plenty more Dead Presidents). I furnish rockets from discarded Internet Jerk moustaches. All profit.
P.S. I know Betty White, in fact I make sweet love to her every 4th thursday of months that begin with G.

Maybe he just wants to be rural for a while?

anyone who assumes to have insight into what Meyer is going through and that this entire thing is a ploy by a scumbag for PR is an asshat. He was hospitalized after the SEC Championship game, so its highly likely that there is a real health issue at play here.
The job of BCS-level HC is incredibly stressful. Two big ten coaches have died in the last five years while on the job, one from a heart attack. Bo nearly died after his first year. And to insinuate that there is less stress at Florida than somewhere else is truly clueless. All of the big time HC's are internally motivated well beyond what the outside forces could drum up.
I hope for Meyer's sake and his family that he finds a solution to his health concern, whether it leads him to return to the UF sidelines or his backyard to play with his kids and the family dog.
