but he's about to dunn get flipped.
Urban Flippin Recruits: Sevon Pittman
No one saw that coming...
Same here, this must lead me to think that OSU might not be getting hammered by the NCAA. OSU knows it, Meyer knows it, and now all the recruits know it. Dunn probably know it too.
Just like USC wasn't going to get hammered? Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting them to get hammered, but if they're selling that to the recruits, then it's BS. They don't know, but what other choice to they have? Gotta sell like you have no problems and then hope for the best.
Yea, i agree with you but I really don't get why Meyer would accept the job without knowing what's coming.
He trusts his athletic director and his president.
At least that's what he told us at his first presser...and I don't know why he'd say something that stupid if it wasn't true.
I think Meyer may be expecting some pain to come OSU's way. Give's him a chance to start the program his way (whatever that will look like) and if he takes a few losses along the way he has a built in excuse.
Shocking about Pittman.
They'll lose a couple of scholarships a year for a few years. Given the shennanigans that are available, that's no big deal. They won't be able to go to a bowl in 2012-13. That's bad, but if you're an incoming freshman, it's not a big deal, especially if you're going to be redshirted. I may be wrong, but that's your fallback when you're selling Ohio to recruits.
Nope, that can't be it.
About 40 million reasons if what I've read is correct.
Why did Kiffin accept the USC job when he knew they were getting hammered?....its their dream coaching job.
If USC got hammered by the NCAA it didn't turn out the result they wanted on the field. They are not exactly struggling under these sanctions.
Exactly. I think Urban Meyer believes that, even WITH sanctions, scholly losses, a bowl ban, he can build a power at OSU. Add to it that this is his "dream job" (maybe) and that it might not come back open for years, and add in the salary they offered him and it is a no brainer to take it.
I wouldn't put it past Urban and Ohio to lie to their recruits to get them in the door just so they won't go to another B1G school. Once a scumbag always a scumbag (I bet Urban goes to fine line and gets that tattoed on his arm with the block "O")
Really all that happened was that he moved to a different circle of hell. I don't see what the big deal is.
Like all the levels of Hell in Dante's Inferno...combined. I feel for anyone who goes and plays there.
They can take out the trash as far as I'm concerned of the guys we didn't want. Notice how nobody from Michigan is switching, and Dunn may switch to Michigan. Sucks to be a Sparty fan though your one good recruit leaves.
Lets not count our chickens just yet.
If he wasn't coming to Michigan I really wish he wasn't going to OSU or MSU. And people saying Schutt isn't any good are not seeing things clearly. I like Michigan's commits a lot and think they will do really well, but OSU has a solid D-line coming in with Washington in that mix. The Big Ten is going to keep producing tons of NFL talent from the D-lines.
Kalis > Washington, Magnuson > Pittman. Problem solved!
Definitely true, but at the same time, I'm sure part of the reason UM commits wouldn't be switching is the stigma that comes with spurning one school for the other, in particular Michigan and Ohio. I don't think Kalis could ever drop out of here and recommit and it'd be like nothing happened, not that he's planning to. MSU commits wouldn't have many problems switching to Ohio because its not like they have much of a rivalry with each other. If it involves UM, its a different story.
You do realize, though, that Kalis originally committed to osu, before decommitting and then committing to U-M, right?
To be fair they still have Aaron Burbridge...
A) Stupid Urban Meyer
B) Lulz sparty
C) All of the above
D) Big 2, Little 10 fergodsakes.
/runs to check out rcmb
Everyone saw this coming long before Urban Meyer was named head coach.
This is true. Schutt and Pittman both commited to their back-up schools and still were always on the market. I mean Pittman pretty much said he's only committed to Michigan State till something better comes around. Washington was going to Ohio State regardless and other than those three, no new commits.
Urban's dangerous in recruiting but I'm still confident in Hoke and Mattison. I don't think Meyer will be able to lock down Ohio like Tressel did. I'm interested to see Meyer in another high-profile job and to see if he can repeat his success.
No one will lock down Ohio like Tressel did. That's why I'm fine with them getting Meyer and I'm not going to get mad if they get a slap on the wrist by the NCAA. The real victory was Tressel "retiring".
You can't lock down a state without the key ingredients...and these are unavailable to Urban Meyer's new regime (at least he hopes they are)....
Cash Money, Yo
Free Tats (Justin Boren Model below)
Wait, who is this guy, and how would he have this information before everyone else?
I felt the same way. But, just saw Bill Greene from Scout say the same thing on the twitters.
Bill "Bank" Greene? Is Bank his middle name or is he hinting at his relationship with OSU's football program?
Haha Sparty. So cute trying to recruit against big brother and his peers. It's just like backyard football, where the little guy tags along and nobody wants him on their team.
Yes, we have fallen all the way down to... The Sugar Bowl.
Sorry, I fell asleep for 3 years.
What is this "mighty have fallen" and such people are speaking of? When I went to sleep we had just beaten Florida in the Capital One Bowl, man that was quite a fall. Now in the Sugar Bowl, I don't think we fell far!
I mean, it does ring a little hollow until we actually beat them....
Wow. Dantonio must feel like a tragic hero to see his dream school stealing his recruits.
... MD is mouthing silently ...
Flip all he wants. The way our coaches develop talent I'm not at all worried.
I think every fanbase uses this excuse about every coach.
I find, however, that the defensive turn around this year is indicative of our coaching staffs ability to develop. Urban was always able to recruit at Florida but, as his odd departure seems to indicate, he's not so good at developing that talent.
....what sorts of things could possibly drive one away from State...
...to please develop an Arial character that combines a mistaken upper-case E with an upper-case T, designed solely for captioning this immortal photograph.
Sevon has been digging OSU forever, and was taking visits there well before Meyer was hired. I am sure Urban will get his recruits, but seeing someone like Pittman or Adolphus Washington committing to OSU is more a product of their success the last decade than it is anything Urban Meyer is doing.
Also - This is hardly a solid source, it's one lone tweet from some guy.
Not good. Not good at all. They now have Adolphus, Sevon, and Tommy Schutt, with Noah Spence visiting this weekend and its hit only official. Plus they have a solid freshman Dline class right now (Steve miller, Hale, Mike Bennett). I cant wait to see the trench battles in the years to come from our Oline and their Dline. Im not going to lie im worried about urban, hes a hell of a recruiter. And man if they get Spence.....
You're either incredibly obsessed with OSU or just a straight up troll. Poor grammar and spelling has me leaning towards the latter. Either way, I'm plenty fine with Michigan's line recruiting on both sides of the ball.
I like in Ohio so all of my friends are ohio fans. So I have to hear about this stuff all the time.
wow!! I LIKE in ohio too!
Stop acting like a big pussy.
This will hopefully be just like the 1970s. Ohio was loaded and well coached. Michigan was loaded and well coached. It was a war and the games were great. Enjoy.
I'd rather have the talent concentrated at one school (or at least the top 2 or 3), and have one holy end-of-the-earth battle every year, rather than worry about top kids spreading to lower tier programs like Sparty.
With the B1G Championship game now, I'm just waiting for a situation where no matter what, after the OSU game, we play them again the next week. Then what happens in the first game? Do we just take it easy and save it for the next week?
We beat them both times. End of story.

UM has a helluva coach in their own right. Meyer is a tremendous coach, but is he better than Woody? No. UM won it's fair share against Woodrow so I am confident that they will win their fair share versus Meyer.
Is he better than Tressel?
I don't think so. Dirty as he may be, he was one helluva coach. There were times last year when we were going after Harbaugh that I was dreaming of the day he and Tress-Vest met each other at the 50.
It has been said before, but I don't think many people appreciate the use of UM as standing for Urban Meyer. On the other hand, he definitely make the quote "you can't spell SCUM without UM" true.
I'm expecting Sparty to whine loudly about this, and somehow blame it on Michigan.
I think I'm schadenfreude'n it up because Sparty just lost one of their top two recruits. I'd rather it not be a +1 for Ohio, but hey ... I'm going to LOL SPARTY anyway.
It's like the recruiting version of SPARTY NOOOOO!!!
The hits just keep on coming. Can't say I didn't laugh when I read this post. We all knew it would happen but much like a fart, it's just funny no matter what. Sparty=farts
Don't worry Dantonio will turn their entire 3 star class into national champions in 3 years.
MSU makes big names out of players, not the other way around
Despite the Spartan bashing did we not all expect this even when Fickel was HC? Ohio has a super crop of DE's and OSU was going to grab at minimum two. Washington/Pittman were OSU superfans from the start. Although, I will say this gives OSU one hell of a DL haul now... bastards
still considering them. I'd like for Michigan to get in on him.
Noah Spence looks like he is going to take a single official visit. And, unfortunately, that will be to Ohio. Both Fickell AND Meyer will be in his house this Friday, possibly to watch his game. I think, but I'm not certain, that Meyer is a big deal to Spence... I doubt Michigan has ever had a shot with him.
I'm hoping someone else knows something different...
It seems strange that Spence isn't waiting around for PSU to get a new coach. He was all PSU through the whole recruiting process, up until recently.
Yes, this does seem strange. I wonder what could have possibly happened over in Happy Valley...
I thought meyer was allowed to recruit but not coach and fickell was allowed to coach but not recruit. That was how the ncaa was willing to have more than the max coaches currently on staff. Or am i missing something?
Tha'ts the only thing you are missing. Ohio has a free pass, and until something changes (i.e. the NCAA drops the f'in hammer) they'll continue to flout openly the rules we play by. Apparently, that's a level playing field. Perhaps it remains level because we've got all the scholar athletes, and that gives us an unfair advantage.
/ hope you now have music from the original 'Willy Wonka' movie in your head
Must be nice to have a coaching squad running bowl practice/prep and another handling recruiting
We all can't have two complete staff's. Im still extremely confused how this presents a level playing field in college football. The NCAA always talks about wanting a level field but then they let ohio pull this shit. Oh well we just need to beat them again!
they made the ruling because Urban hasn't exactly had a staff yet. So far all he has is an OC who I believe is still coaching Iowa State in their bowl game.
OSU's primary recruiters right now are Meyer, Fickell, and Drayton.
last year. It's not a special break for OSU.
What does HALOL mean I see it all the time !
It means nothing, but Basketball Assistant Coach, Bacari Alexander, tweeted it, and it caught on with the Maize and Blue faithful.
Doesn't it mean "Having A Lot of Laughs"?
It's a line that bball coach Bacari Alexander uses all the time. I like to think of it as a notch above 'lol.' A booming guffaw, if you will.
It means having a lot of laughs.
...while Michigan has a bigger class of stars to maintain, they couldn't even do that. I'm going to have to call my sparty friends to tell them the good news...LOL!
Pittman = not 5 star. If your going to bash do it correctly or you make us look dumb.
However by adding another star makes you feel insecure...oh well!
I'm only human...take a deep breath and relax,it will be okay! People make mistake,if you didn't know that...
If YOU'RE going to correct somebody make sure your grammar is correct or you make yourself look dumb.
Urban may do this to us. Also, OSU stronger is worse than MSU.
Eh, Ohio is always going to bring in good talent, but MSU not so much. It's better to fight a war on one front than two.
Please please please tell me Burbridge and McGowan jump ship... the entire city of East Lansing will be seen from space with all the couch fires
Space Bitches. Space.
I'm still holding out hope Burbridge magically flips to us...I can dream can't I?
What's the deal with Burbridge? I've heard nothing about him since his commitment to Sparty. Has he gotten his grades and everything in order? Are other schools still recruiting him? I don't want to see him at Sparty OR Ohio.
And I really wish he was going to Michigan. MSU had two commits that I wish were coming to Michigan, and they just lost one of them. I don't see Burbridge going elsewhere but it would be nice if he went blue.
I'd be fine with this. OSU is always going to be talented; that's a given. MSU is a bigger variable. They normally do not sign many players of this caliber. If/when they return to mediocrity, that makes things easier for us.
lolz id rather them in ohio rather then in sparty noooo land
Ohio now had 3/4 of a d line from rivals 100, that isn't good for us. Our o-line will be beastly when those guys are upperclassmen though so we'll definitely see some good trench battles. I'm actually curious about Noah Soence now, any chance he takes an official here?
If we can land Garnett (not at all a given, but a definate possibility), then we could have 3/5 an OL from the Rivals top 50.
I remember our dominant d-line that was 4/4 top 100 recruits in 2005...
Terrance Taylor, Marcus Slocum, Eugene Germany, James McKinney.
Meanding: don't worry until it's time to worry.
We own Toledo, fergodssakes. Even Brutus doesn't get into Toledo.
Sparty can have Detroit Southeastern.
....how did you get a shot of Dantonio semi-smiling?
I think that pic was Dantonio's reaction to Gholston trying to twist Denard's head off
Tears... That made my day.
I moderated this one as "interesting".
1. Mario Ojemudia's Senior Highlight film
2. From all that I've read, Dunn looks like a slight Michigan lean
3. Mario Ojemudia's Senior Highlight film
Also, add Kalis, Magnuson, Strobel, Wormley, Pipkins...well you get the picture. Also, Washington, Pittman, and Spense are all WDE are they not? All very, very good WDE, but at least we've got a lot of flexability with our DL recruits. But should be a really, really good pass rush team.
Pittman is a diehard Sparty that MSU stole from Michigan. Michigan didnt turn him down, he turned them down. He loves MSU and is a firm commit.
Errrrrrrrr, at least he did not go to UofM. Who cares if he was our only recruit of relevance. We will recruit nationally and find someone better.
Touting ESPN's recruiting rankings is like touting banging the skinniest chick on week 1 of the Biggest Loser.
Ohio does have a nice D-line class. I like our O-line class better, and our D-line class is pretty damn good as well.
And we could possibly add 40, 43 and 103 (still visiting us too). And seriously, ESPN has the worst football rankings out there. Pipkins is like a 77 or 78 three star to them.
They spent all last year bashing ESPN and now there on the ESPN Slappy Recruit Train....Brilliant!
who thinks that Meatchicken is a sweet BUUURRN on us? What does it even mean? I think scUM is stupid, but at least it's vaguely an insult. Seriously. What are they trying to convey with Meatchicken
Hope he blows out both ACL's twice. Fuck him. We're good now. Gloves are off.
This is sour grapes but...fuck you Sevon Pittman. Hope you never play a down in your career you scumbag piece of shit. Also, fuck you Urban Meyer. Hope you die.
I hope Urban Meyer dies of cancer. Ditto with the NCAA cocksuckers.
He's simply not a good enough player to warrant this type of meltdown. I've seen his video, and OSU is getting a very subpar player.
Pittman... Your girlfriend looks like a dude. You should have gone to EL just to get rid of that mess. Burn!!! Pound Green! Pound!
I hope your significant other gets gang raped by the Taliban. I hope you die of cancer. I hope I see Urban Meyer crossing the street so I can hit the gas. Most importantly, I hope I see you so I can slit your throat. Fuck you inbred suckeyes and your trashy kin. (this to an OSU poster)
I have a lot of Ohio friends saying the Dunn is trying to flip Kalis back. I find it comical, but interesting nonetheless.
It's from and eleven warriors message board post. But the guy from scout says UM has a slight edge. You tell me who to believe.
On Dunn I hope. I hope there is zero truth to Kalis flipping back.
Yeah, a slight edge on Dunn. Kalis is not flipping. The dude was visiting campus last weekend with the rest of the recruits and picked his roommate. I really doubt he's going anywhere.
He seems to be a good one if his grades are good enough now.
It must have been the running into the punter penalty in the big ten championship game that says to him "im not playing for these fucking idiots!"
But hearing about a big pick up for a rival school hurts so little this year. If this were last year and we saw OSU grab two high profile d-linemen in one day out of nowhere I think this board would be in semi melt down mode. I absolutely love our class.
Loses tressel's protection and any worthwhile recruits.
SPARTY - YOU MAD?
a sparty i know says pittman's girlfriend plays basketball and osu gave her a scholarship primarily to get him to commit-don't know if this is old news
So most likely she's actually a really good basketball player. She has also been commited there for a while IIRC. So that's not the case. Pittman always seemed like he wanted to go to OSU but was unsure of where they stood. I'm glad he didn't commit to Michigan only because I think we would have a Dunn situation but the opposite direction, where we would be battling to keep a recruit. It's much nicer to have recruits that are just as good that are honoring their commits and have the option of telling those that don't that we can move on without them.
I know it's not the high and mighty thing to do.... but I can't help but laugh my a@@ off at Sparty over this. Sucks that its another solid player for ohio, but oh man the egg this puts in spartys face is just incredible, made even better by those idiots spending the last couple of months trying to constantly convince themselves that Pittman really loved msu and was in no danger to drop his commitment, then like a thief in the night he's gone.... hahahaha
Wow sorry sparty, but the best recruit you 'stole' from us just got jacked from you.
hard core Sparty anyway. I'm not surprised.
And with the extra staff out recruiting and not coaching the UOS football team, Urban & Co. should be taking advantage of the situation.
Meyer is a great recruiter.
With 18 recruits in the bag, and possible bowl bans and scholarship losses on the horizon, Meyer's gotta make hay while the sun shines.
from a poster Pervis Muldoon:
"Ohio State's new coach comes into the conference, gets a special favor from the Big Ten executives, and immediately goes to work poaching other schools' recruits. So how did he get to OSU in the first place? For those unfamiliar with Urban's strange departure from Florida, he became a drama queen hypochondriac, yanking his school and his players around while he dealt with his feelings about his health. Then he ran away.
It began after the Gators lost the 2009 SEC Championship Game. He started feeling bad, so he went to the hospital and was treated for "dehydration". This upset him so much, he told his team and his school that he needed to step down for his family and his health. The very next day, he said he wasn't stepping down but would take a leave of absence instead.
The next season, without Tim Tebow, the Gators went 7-5. Suddenly, Urban decided that he really did need to leave, after all - for his family and his health. He released a statement that said, "I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field. I relish the opportunity to cheer for my three terrific kids as they compete in their own respective sports." After less than a year, it seems that either his children suck at sports or he doesn't really give a shit about cheering for them.
The interesting thing as Meyer steps into the Big Ten is the health concern that precipitated his departure from Florida. His main problem was "esophageal spasms." That's what caused him to quit, stay, and quit again. Esophageal spasms. Mark Dantonio was in the middle of a heart attack caused by elephantiasis and still joked with reporters in a post-game press conference. Bret Bielema severely stubs his toe at least twice a year yet somehow manages to walk the sidelines. Brady Hoke was told that another hamburger might kill him, so he switched to four-pound bacon-wrapped pulled pork sandwiches and still gets his fat ass to the field. Jerry Kill has a massive seizure every ten minutes, picks himself up, brushes the grass off the seat of his pants, and calls the next play.
Yet Urban Meyer left his team and school twisting in the wind because he was troubled by what Winnie the Pooh might characterize as a "rumbly in the tumbly." In a conference of hearty men, Urban Meyer is a pussy. Good luck, Buckeyes. "
This guy nails Meyer's wussiness
That's some finely-crafted snark right there. Pervis Muldoon must be a goddamn philosopher-king over at RCMB.
can't steal whats already yours. Pittman was a Buckeye it was just a matter of time. and Shutt I'm willing to bet if Michigan offered he would decommit from the bucks in a heart beat. Dude has not done his homework and seems to flounder from one commitment to another. remember he asked to visit and was given a no thanks. I'll trust and defer to the coacjhes on this one. Also when he was on Michigan radar I don't remember any of the recruiting services giving him a "lot of love". So I'm really picking up some flakey vibes from this guys recruitment.
So all in all I'm not worried about Ohio or Urban Meyer. Hoke has almost righted the ship based on his standards (win a BIG Championship) and I don't see Michigan slowing down.
Hoke does not really look all that fat to me, relatively speaking. At least not enough to rip on him about it. Other than that a pretty funny post.
I just assumed urban came back because his kids just sucked at sports and it became too painful to go to their games.
It doesn't make sense. I'm clearly missing something. What am I missing here?
Apparently Brian Kelly's visit with Yuri wright went so well that Yuri scheduled an official to ND. How Kelly is able to recruit top notch talent is a mystery. The football program has underperformed (relative to the amount of high school talent Kelly and Weiss has brought in over the years) and has not really put too many players into the NFL. I am not sure what he said to Wright but ND already has 4 DB commits.
