I think people are forgetting a key fact here.

If Mich and Kansas win out. Michigan will be 19-1 and Kansas will be 18-1.

Sure I think Kansas would probably move to number 1 in the coaches, but there is no way they jump Mich in the AP. Beating a ranked team recently (Kansas beating #11) looks good, but more wins will always look better when you already ranked ahead of them. Even just by 1 spot.

Really though, the lead they developed was legitimate.  Miami has been in control and I don't think at any point was there really any concern that Duke could chip away to get this back to manageable..
