It's less than 5 to go. Can we talk about it yet?
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:46 PM ^
Now we know who to blame if Duke ends up winning.

I'm just keeping the seat warm until he shows up tonight.
And it's not pessimism anyhow... I don't give a damn whether Duke wiins or loses, I've just seen the script in football and basketball a million times when the underdog gets out to a big lead early and then gets reeled in by the better team. Tonight is one of the exceptions, and I'm wrong bigtime.

The "jinx" won't be beaten until michigan wins tomorrow......
Edit: .....and Sunday at Illinois.

That first half was pretty much porn for all the Duke haters out there.
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:51 PM ^
C-A-N-E-S....CANES!
Miami is playing well and lighting it up from three, but Duke has been struggling big time on offense to help Miami build the big lead. Let's hope they can keep it up. Remember, Miami beat Duke last year at Cameron.

Go Dook
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:56 PM ^
No.
Never go dook.
January 23rd, 2013 at 9:10 PM ^
I'm not actually rooting for Duke at all. I hate Duke. I'm making fun of them. I figured by spelling 'Duke' 'Dook' people would get that, but apparently the downvoters did not.
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:52 PM ^
42-19 at the half..Miami is not a bum team so that is a big lead..If that is not Upset Alert status then come back later when you see fit

January 23rd, 2013 at 7:55 PM ^
Argument understood, but the other side of that coin is their body of work and it is the best, so, #1 they are. Their time will come (i.e. they gon' lose some games and dropppp!).
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:53 PM ^
Miami's run was pretty outrageous. Duke could hit nothing and Miami was hitting everything. They got a ton of 3's and And-1's in a row there
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:58 PM ^
Yes, It was cool and i had so much fun i started this thread..I am a Duke hater
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:55 PM ^
Duke down by 25 points at the half!!! Dot forget we still have to beat Purdue and Illinois in Champaign so lets stay focused either way though go Canes!!
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:55 PM ^
This is ridiculous. Obviously they have the talent to come back...if they find their rhythm. Wow this is crazy. All teams are vulnerable...
January 23rd, 2013 at 7:56 PM ^
Select Duke statistics at halftime - Amile Jefferson and Mason Plumlee are tearing it up with 5 and 4 points respectively. They are 8-36 in the FG department for a whopping 22.2%, 2-11 from 3-point land and have made 1 free throw in 4 tries.
Miami, on the other hand, is shooting 58.6% and Durand Scott has nearly outshot the entire Duke squad, including the bench.

January 23rd, 2013 at 8:13 PM ^
How are they overrated when they lost 1 (and maybe 2) to good teams without their best player? They rolled a bunch of top 15 teams prior to that.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:24 PM ^
What top-15 teams did they roll? Kentucky, who they beat by 7 and just lost to Alabama (for their 6th loss)? Lousville by 5 who just lost by 9 to Villanova? OSU by 5? They did roll Minnesota.
Point is, their UK win doesn't look good anymore, and Louisville is looking like a paper tiger, and those were both close wins. They pulled out OSU after trailing the whole game, and yeah, Minnesota.
I'm not saying they're not good or anything, but to say they rolled a bunch of top-15 teams isn't stretching the truth.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:27 PM ^
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:33 PM ^
I agree with you, but that group isn't as good as it looked before, since both Lousville and Kentucky, the latter especially, are worse than originally thought. That, and the fact that this game is Duke's second away game all year (NC State was the first).
January 23rd, 2013 at 11:03 PM ^
hindsight is 50/50...they were ranked #1 and lost (again). All that matters is we play smart throughout the season and ride into the tournament with a lot of momentum
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:09 PM ^
I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like this...holy sh*t Duke!
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:09 PM ^
Came out of the half and Miami picks up where they left off. They're just playing harder than Duke.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:10 PM ^
Leading by 30 points with 18 minutes left. This means: If Michigan beats Purdue and Illinois soundly this week, Michigan WILL BE #1.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:23 PM ^
Kansas just beat a #11 team on the road. We play 2 non-ranked teams. They will get the nod for #1, not us.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:26 PM ^
Yeah, but we already beat them, and by more.
I'm not saying we're a shoo-in for #1, but I don't think your reason will hold a lot of weight.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:30 PM ^
The transitive property does not work for college basketball. It's all about what have you done recently. We moved up after beating a ranked Minn. Kansas wil move up after beating a ranked K-State. Simple as that.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:36 PM ^
That's not transative. I'm not saying a > b > c, I'm saying that a > c says nothing about the relationship between a and b since b > c as well.
Someone said they'd be #1 because they beat K State, but we already did that.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:32 PM ^
They only have the one game this weekend. With a big win on Sunday on the road, that might help mitigate their better win. Also, M was 56 points ahead of them in the most recent AP poll, and had four more first place votes.
The Coaches Poll will probably belong to Kansas, though. They have a twenty point and seven first place vote advantage as of Monday.
January 23rd, 2013 at 8:38 PM ^
The Big12 is basically Kansas, Kansas St. and a couple of bubble. The 3rd best team is possibly Iowa St., who has already lost to Iowa.
