Updated Records: Gibbons ties another record
- All-Time Record: 907-315-36
- All-Time Road Record: 275-144-15
- Brady Hoke is now 23-7 at Michigan which is good for 11th. He is one victory behind Gustave Ferbert (24-3-1)
- Brady Hoke's win % moves to .767. That is 7th at Michigan and better than Lloyd Carr & Gary Moeller who are both at .758
- Michigan is now 22-5-1 against teams in the American Athletic Conference. The only team Michigan has lost to from that league was Navy back when Navy was a powerhouse.
- 27-15 in Night Games with a 2-game winning streak
- Now 3-2 when featured on ESPN Saturday Night Football on ABC, snapping a 2-game losing streak.
- Fitz Toussaint has his 6th career and first 100-yard rushing game since 11/26/2011 vs ohio. This was also the first 100-yard game by a RB since that 40-34 game as well. Welcome back Fitz, we missed you.
- Brendan Gibbons ties Garrett Rivas with 3 game winning FGs.

Usually ties come last, no?

Lost five times to Navy with one tie.

Thanks for the clarification

Wasn't UTL2 one of these games?
September 22nd, 2013 at 1:48 PM ^
Thanks to NASCAR and ABC contractual requirements, the Richmond race was airing on ABC while Michigan/Notre Dame UTL II (and UTL I two years prior) were relegated to ESPN.

Watching the development of Gibbons - in my estimation - has been one of the feel-good stories to come out of these first seasons under Brady Hoke. Brendan made about a 12% improvement in accuracy from 2011 to last year. He's 4-5 this year, but the season still fairly young yet.

When Gibbons trotted out there they referred to him as "one of the best in the country" and I imagined myself hearing that in 2010. What a turnaround.
September 22nd, 2013 at 1:56 PM ^
It somehow feels like Gibbons has more than that. But I guess we're not counting the kick to put the Northwestern game in OT.
September 22nd, 2013 at 2:12 PM ^
didn't he have an OT game winner at Iowa?
September 22nd, 2013 at 2:17 PM ^
No, Michigan won that game on a Jerome Jackson TD plunge up the middle.
September 22nd, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
Is this the first time in school history our offense has given up TDs on three straight weeks? Actually, has it ever happened to a team (any school) before?
September 22nd, 2013 at 3:09 PM ^
Not buying it, the defense won that game, Gibbons just gave us the lead. If we win 3-0 and Gibbons kicks the field goal in the first quarter is it still a "Game Winning" field goal?
September 22nd, 2013 at 3:30 PM ^
I would say it is - just like a game winning hit or RBI in baseball doesn't always come in the bottom of the 9th, or GW goal in hockey isn't required to come in the last five minutes of the period. I see what you're saying - if it's not racked with the pressure that comes late in the fourth quarter it's a different situation. But if he scores the last points and they are the difference in the game, I'm okay with it being called a game winner.

Hard stat to really track since at what time would it go into effect. My feeling is a game winning FG is a kick that ends the game. But, if you go by any FG that is the final scoring play of the game, that results in a win, is technically a game winning FG. Just not what I think of when I think of game winning FG.

Do you think of Gibbons's kick against MSU last year as a game-winner? It wasn't the last play of the game (there were five seconds left), but it would be hard to argue that it didn't win the game for us.

In regards to kicking a FG in the first quarter and winning 3-0, yes, that does count.

didn't recruit Ohio well enough, he was unable to change the tide in the rivalry and convince ohioans to buy Michigan jerseys.
