Ira said there were a lot of bowl game reps in the booth at yesterday's game.

Michigan vs USC in a California bowl game.......most would think the Rose Bowl.

Sigh.

I'm guessing talking head 2 has Wisconsin in the playoff?

edit: but then they would be in the Rose or Sugar...maybe he has them not qualifying for a bowl?  Odd.'

edit 2: and now I see you've changed it and Wisconsin is listed...nevermind

This is very similar to last week's.  Only now these bowl projections seem optimistic to me.  I suppose Michigan may very well beat Northwestern, Maryland, Rutgers, Indiana, and maybe even Minnesota, to get to 7-5.  And if they do, that has meaning, and while I won't be bragging about it, exactly, I will appreciate the effort it took to pull it off.  It just seems so out of reach, at the moment.

Massey has a matchup simulator, and if either of those scenarios materialized based on current data at least if you used his data, you would have:

 - versus Pittsburgh - estimated 45% win probability for Michigan

 - versus USC - estimated 22% win probability for Michigan

Mind you, there's historic data in the algorithm, but yeah, not inspiring sadly.

The way this team has played I can't see better then a 50% chance this team is bowl eligible. I would be somewhat shocked if this team wins 4 more games. Do people really think we can win 4 big ten games?

Not if they play like they did last week. The offense has ZERO trips to the redzone this year against teams that have a pulse. Unfortunately, every team on our schedule from here on out has a pulse. It's going to be tough to win 4 more games. :(

I would actually be happy with a Michigan/USC bowl game. Obviously I'd rather it be a bigger stage but really if you're not playing in the big ones it's really more about your opponent and geography anyway. I'd like a CA game against a marquee name like USC.

send 4-8 teams to bowl games now? I know the amount of bowls has gotten ridiculous, but I wasn't aware a four win season would get a you a match up with USC. That's pretty neat.
