UPDATE TSIO: Herron & Posey Out Indefinitely

Submitted by SanFrancisco_W… on

Well, it appears that Posey and Herron were taking other benefits than just tattoos.  Looks like they may have been receiving some money for summer jobs in Cleveland.  Read for yourself and let me know what you think:

Herron and Posey Out Indefinitely

EDIT: Lawyer for OSU has stated that the eligibility of one of the Tat 5 is now being called into question by the NCAA.  This being reported by 97.1 The Fan in Columbus.  They have not said if it's Adams, Posey, Herron, or Solomon Thomas.

I wonder when people in Ohio are going to wake up and realize they should stop honoring Tressel, at whose feet all of this can be laid.  If he had been honest about a small thing, they would likely have survived without a loss short suspensions of those players last year, not vacated the season, not lost to MSU this year, be doing better in recruiting, still have Pryor at QB, and would not be asking if they could actually lose four games in a row this year.  Every now and then, people get what they deserve.

Saying if he had just been honest about one small thing is missing the point. Do you really believe that he got caught the one and only time he lied? To me it looks like he made a career of enabling and covering up trangressions with boosters. He only got caught this time because they stupidly appealed the Tat 5 penalties. That got the OSU legal staff involved. No chance anyone in the AD would have ever turned him in.

I wouldn't be too sure Pryor was ever going to be eligible this year.

No one would have looked into any of that stuff if they had simply "self reported" another minor infraction and been done with it.  I seem to recall that they lead the nation in self-reporting, so there have not historically been consequences to doing so.  I think Tressel is a liar, but he didn't get caught for years.  Probably never would have been either.

They led the nation in self-reporting secondary violations, where the penalty is typically a warning. This violation was something that would have led to multiple suspensions. You really believe no one would have looked into that stuff with the Tat 5 getting suspended? The intensity would have been less, but the evidence would have been fresher. Who knows, maybe more would have been uncovered then.

The last time OSU had self-reported a violation that led to the suspension of a star player was Troy Smith for the Alamo Bowl. Three days later Andy Geiger resigned. His replacement took a more relaxed approach to overseeing the football program. Coincidence or Tressel's influence?

All I hear from my Buckeye friends is "who cares, more losses = better chance for Urban Meyer"

This is strange to me...they want to hire a guy that quit on Florida once Tebow left, and had something like 35 players arrested in his tenure there.  Have at it folks.

that OSU will have played MSU and Nebraska at a severe disadvantage, but will have their team back and rested, and except Pryor, just in time to play Michigan. That actually kind of sucks.

and the rest of Nebraska's offense, keep them sore for when they play us. And, as an added bonus, I hope Martinez throwing picks and getting hit hard in that game makes him go all mental for the rest of the season.

but so far Fickel is a turrible game day coach, and their O-Line looks pretty shabby.  I think they only get one dude back on the line, and I won't even start on the QB play.  Unless miracles happen, we are going to thump Ohio in the Big House.

I'm tempted to BKFinest it.

OSU's next game:

- 5 days from today

- at Nebraska

- Nebraska is pissed off at their loss to Wisconsin

- no Posey

- no Boom-Boom

- no QB

This is going to be fun.

to beat Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday. The Huskers don't even have to be pissed off to do it.  Just play a little better than Toledo on your home field and presto.

The OSU suspensions, the lack of a competent quarterback, etc. - that's all understandable. But to me the most shocking thing is the OL play of the Buckeyes.  It's been horrendous - and with all of those veterans, I just don't get it.

Also, Dantonio basically gift-wrapped OSU's sole TD in the game (way to call completely unnecessary time outs while on defense nimrod!). I swear the guy is angling for Fickell's job next year.

Here's some more...

I might as well live in prison. Free room and board. No electricity bill. My wife already cooks like sh!t so food isn't a problem and I feel liked I have been ------ in the @$$ so many times this season already, that no other man could possibly want to have a piece. This extra handout occured in the summer? How many months after their previous infraction came to light and they were suspended? There is zero accountability on these players. None. If the players felt like they owned this team I doubt that they would be playing as poorly as they are. Maybe it is just an offense thing? The defense is playing well and they aren't the ones getting in trouble sans the guy that has done nothing except one late game interception in his carreer. No accountability at all. Who steps up and takes ownership of this team? No one because we have captains swapping weekly. This isn't even a slant on Fickell. Someone, regardless of title, step up and lead. Kick Boom and Posey out for repeat offender. They should be walking a straighter line than anybody else and setting the example right now. That leadership we were looking for on this team? Not from these two thanks. /

They're 3-2 now

at Nebraska - decisive loss at the bloodied hands of Crick and Co. Makes  MSU defensive line looks like the Care Bears. (3-3)

at Illinois - angry OSU team (3-3) shows up only to be scalped by Chief Illiniwek and their Dutch-named field general Scheelhaase. (3-4)

Wisconsin - embarrassing shut out loss in the horsesh&t. Buckeyes incredulous that Bielema won't pull a Dantonio mercy time-out festival on defense with just 3 min to play.  Worst home loss recorded in OSU football history. (3-5)

Indiana - unsatisfying win against a team only slightly better than Minnesota (4-5)

at Purdue - another win, on the road, just not very pretty.  Reminiscent of Toledo game (5-5)

Penn State - home win over Nittany Lions' makes OSU bowl eligible at 6-5.  Sighs of relief (6-5)

at Michigan - 1 pick six, and 5 sacks of OSU- "Like a Baus!" (6-6)

Insight Bowl vs. Iowa State:  Cyclones 31, Buckeyes 29. QB Steele Jantz game winning 2 pt conversion run. Former ISU HC Earle Bruce on hand for the game seen laughing his effing ass off.....

three players . . . Posey, Marcus Hall and Herron will be suspended at least one more game.  Two other players will not be further suspended.  Further penalties may be levied by the NCAA.  They are applying for reinstatement.  Somehow no additional allegations coming from the NCAA.  No LOIC or Failure to Monitor.  Self report and reinstatement has been released.

Edit:  They knew about this before the August 12th hearing.  They were hoping to have a ruling by now but the NCAA is still investigating.  Popcorn?

Second NOA will be forth comming.   Hearing won't be till after season.

Nobody decent is going to want to coach for OSU.

All commits will come to us.

Yipee.

Also incorrect.  They said that this is being looked at as a part of the previous NOA.  There will not be a hearing after the season.  I didn't hear him say anything about another NOA.  All he said was that they are waiting to hear from the NCAA on the issue of their sanctions.

So the penalty won't come down on the school in Oct as scheduled because of all these new things. The cloud over OSU will last a bit longer.
