Update on shooting incident at Purdue

Submitted by GoWings2008 on

This situation got a lot of attention and Purdue was honored in their game vs Northwestern by the student section.  Very cool move on their part.

But it seems both the victim and the alleged assailant were TAs in the Engineering department.  The accused is being held without bail.

Also, to those who heard about an alleged shooting at Oklahoma University, there was not one. Apparently it was just a loud bang from a construction site (or something like that) that caused a student to call 911, thinking they heard a gunshot.

The Guardian had a nice piece with some quotes regarding Boldt as well - (LINK).

On a closer to home note, my manager's son is actually a graduate TA and works in the building where this happened and was actually nearby as it went down. Fortunately, he was not hurt but I cannot even imagine what must have gone through my boss' mind when she got a text "from under a table" from her son. I cannot comprehend how frightened he must have been.

Very classy move by Northwestern!! Both were TA's and had a professor in common, but they were TA's in diffrent classes. I am clueless on what his motive was, and not sure we will ever know. Last night, I got a text from the Purdue alert system stating that there had been shots fired and police were responding, but thankfully it was a false alarm.
