Update on Matt Godin (via his brother)

Submitted by Magnus on

This is an update from Matt Godin's brother (user tigers06), who doesn't have enough points to start a thread.  So I figured I'd point it out for those who don't see it:

Just got off the phone with my dad, who is at EMU today with Matthew for a track meet.  Tom Lemming is in Ann Arbor this weekend, and he made it out to EMU to meet my brother.  Lemming told Matthew that he'll be recommending him for both the Army and UA All-American games.  My dad also told me that he and Matthew are probably heading over to Ann Arbor after the track meet to visit with the coaches.

Yeah, Wheatley was at the school I work at in Saginaw talking to a kid who was a HS RB but likely projects as a LB in college, though I don't think the kid ever got an offer.

That is now fixed. Thread away, Brother of Godin.

...wait, MGoPoints aren't a recruiting violation are they?

Sounds pretty good.  Godin would be a very welcome adition to this young class.  And welcome to Matt's brother on the boards!

He can still be a DT in a 5 if they move up a OLB on a double tight formation. It just kicks him out a bit. So, that DE on that side may drop into coverage on a zone blitz or he could just simply be a big DE (Godin that is).

Backslash hit the nail on the head. Based on what Matthew and my dad told me after they met with Mattison, they will be playing with multiple fronts. Mattison said they'll be moving the OLB up to double tight formation quite a bit. Therefore, Matthew, while listed as a DT, would usually play in the 5 spot. It sounds as if that OLB is going to be blitzing a lot.  The true DE will be on the other side of the line. By the way, it was during this same meeting that Mattison told my brother that he will take it is as "a personal insult" if anybody tries to run the ball on Michigan.

First of all I have to say it's really cool to have a recruits brother keeping us updated on things. That being said, and if he doesn't want anyone to know feel free to simply not reply. But im sure a lot of us are wondering, does Matthew have a timeline for his announcement or is he just rolling with things for now?

He wants to make a decision before the football season starts.  His goal is to help CC win a state championship, and he doesn't want any distractions during the season.
