UPDATE: Laquon Treadwell Not Visiting Ann Arbor this Weekend
According to Sarah Hughes, Crete-Monee Wide Receiver Laquon Treadwell will be visiting ann arbor this weekend.
.@SuccessfulQuon tells me he'll be visiting Ann Arbor this Friday.#team134
Any visit is a good sign, and in the case of Treadwell, who is starting to become a regular in Ann Arbor, this is a great sign. I will stress however, I do not expect that he will commit this weekend. Despite the addition of an additional WR in Csont'e York to our ever improving 2013 recruiting class, and that there are fewer spots available for him, I would be shocked if he chose us this weekend. His high school coach doesn't allow decommitments and doesn't allow his players to visit other schools once they have commited somewhere (something that Treadwell has stated many times that he intends to do). I hope he takes his time and makes the right and informed decision...assuming that decision lands him in a winged helmet.
UPDATE: Laquon just tweeted that there has been a change in plans, and he will not be visiting Ann Arbor this weekend.
No visit this week change of plans
I think that we would fit him into one of our 'luxury spots' if we end up taking another WR and he still wants to commit, but I'm not sure of course.
HHM-------------------GOML----------------
Considering he's driving from Illinois and staying with Morris, it doesn't really cost that much. Plus I could think of a lot of worse ways to spend a weekend during high school than taking a recruiting visit to a college campus.
Buckle up!
In fact, I heard that Shane now has the authority to accept verbal commitments and then just inform the coaches later. This role may soon extend to B-Ball recruits as well.
"What's the point of visiting (Ann Arbor) yet again?"
I never find myself asking this question...
Well stated. +1.
It is your destiny.
I have no idea whether he's going to commit, or when it might take place, but I get the feeling that Treadwell is the David Terrell to Shane Morris's Drew Henson. I recall Henson also committing early and being active in recruiting Terrell and Marquise Walker in his class.
No offense to any current players or recruits, but we REALLY need to bring a true #1 WR on board. It's certainly possible that one of the current players develops into that type of threat, but the odds are best that Treadwell is the one.
Wouldn't Treadwell be Shane Morris' David Terrell? I'm confused.
His last name Treadwell is so ordinary.......Well at least his first name (Laquon) is up to par so I guess we can except him....Ok Ok "Look into your heart" Millers Crossing Laquon
this is unexceptable.
Well, let's hope that the coaching staff wouldn't except a 4-star WR since it is a position of need, right? I don't know if the board would be accepting of such a strategy.
That being said, this visit is an encouraging sign certainly. After York's commitment, you certainly cannot go wrong with two 4-stars in the receiver corps. As always, you hope recruits make the choice that best suits their future, but I will say, Treadwell would look pretty good in a winged helmet...
'accept'
The Joke
Your head.
has anything to do with Treadwell committing, I would bank it. And for fans of Karsh and Gator I would put a Car Car Lock on this one.
The Senator...haha that's the best nickname for Shane. I'm really hoping for a commit from Treadwell this weekend. It's supposed to be a fairly nice weekend. Sunny and 73 tomorrow and only a slight chance of a thunderstorm on Saturday. Obviously weather doesn't play a factor but it certainly should help. Nothing like a strolling through AA on a beautiful day.
Give me Isaac, Treadwell, and Poggi and my summer is set.
is from northern Illinois, I'm not so sure that Ann Arbor weather will be much of a concern for him.
"The Senator" is a horrible nickname for Shane Morris, since it's a nickname shared with Jim Tressel.
..."The Ambassador?"
How about we don't create nicknames for 16 year old boys?
"The Senator" is actually the perfect name, because it trumps Tressel and inadvertently makes him go down the memory hole. Stick to your fine player evaluations Magnus, but leave analyses on other subjects, like nickname viability, to others.
It was the perfect nickname for Tressel, no one should ever be given it again. It couldn't have played out any better, from him being dubbed unironically to his later resignation in scandal.

I'm not sure sharing a nickname with Jim Tressel is so great.
EDIT: Sorry, apparently I was idled on the page for 30 minutes and did not see Magnus completely destroy me to posting this. Such is the life of MGoBlogging at work.
Yeah work sucks. I couldn't even mgoblog until I was home today I was so busy.
FWIW, Treadwell tweeted that he is not close to making a decision. Let's hope Shane can change his mind!!
That'd be quite the wrinkle. Where did you hear that he reads MGoBlog? If that's true, he'll think all of his potential future fans are a bunch of Kate Upton-ogling lawyers who have a strange obsession for muppets and jersey sales in Ohio.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
~Kate Upton-ogling lawyer obsessed with Muppets and Ohio jersey sales.
he isnt even close to a choice.... he just knows everyone stopped talking about him so he needs to feed the ego... with that said i want this kid in our class because we need a #1 WR. but if he commits now i would be suprised to see him flip his pledge
Drunk Gary Moeller approves this message.
So after reading 73 posts, I've learned that he's staying with Shane (who can now accept verbals and notify the coaches later), he's not close to a decision, they're saving a spot for him regardless, he reads this board, and a lot of people are still wearing seat belts.
I think this kid is well worth the wait. Hope he makes a decision sooner than later so he can help recruit other players ala Shane.
it was the scale that was updated not the actual individual grades. Per Tom VH.
I think we should ...except his commitment if he chooses to commit......accept if his grades aren't up to par. There their people. Accept except.
The purpose of the visit? If he doesn't know the bigger picture by now. Or are there some other issues that need to be addressed? Most of us don't know the inside stuff of recruiting so I hope I'm not the only confused one here.
sure do
