Did you really just lump  this two year starter with a QB rating of 130 in with two true freshmen, one redshirt freshman, and a guy who has yet to look presentable in a game situation.

This guy will start if he comes.  The defense will be awesome and our OC is a run game monster.  They'll be looking for a really solid game manager, not a freshman, or even a junior with an inaccurate howitzer.

more than just a chance to play the 2015 football season.  Looks like the kid is an all B1G academic award winner.  So he could be actually looking to capitalize on coming to Michigan for both a chance to compete for a starting role as QB as well as completing a graduate program for one of the finest graduate degrees a person can receive.

I like that he is from St. Thomas Aquinas which if he comes and finds success could be a huge benefit for the coaching staff to use when visiting the Florida recruits.

"Fisch said he was "comfortable" with the talent in Michigan's quarterback room at the moment, but did make note of saying more guys would be joining them soon."

I am guessing he wasn't just referring to Gentry's arrival in the fall?

He needs to prove something before the program gives him any loyalty.  He sort of fell in with the Hoke fertilizing millenial attitude.  Yes, I know all of the players in college now are millenials....hell I'm one....but the attitude shown by tweets of "Multiple National Championships" (before even setting foot on campus) was not quashed by Hoke's "You've made it b/c this is Michigan and youre going to be a great father and leader someday" mantra.

Hopefully Harbaugh can create an edge in this kid that we haven't seen yet, bc damn he could be good.

What are his reasons for transferring? Is he getting passed over as a starter? Pro prospect who wants to learn from Harbaugh? Or he just wants to get the hell away from Greg Davis?

I don't get how everyone can say he might not come here because he's afraid he might end up sitting on the bench this year.

Yes, theoretically there's a chance he ends up not winning the starting job if he transfers here, but there's that chance anywhere he transfers.

And to be honest, he has just as good a chance to start here as any other school he could go to, if not better.

Ruddock is a guy with 2 years of starting experience at a major school, trying to transfer to another major school in the same conference, and that school's current options have a combined 0 TD's to their name. And this school has a new coach, so everyone is learning a new system and has to prove themselves, so he's not alone by any means there. That sounds like a pretty great option to me if I were Ruddock.

And yes, I realize Harbaugh is going to have the best guy start and not just give it to Ruddock. But contrary to popular belief, Harbaugh isn't the only coach who does that. Anywhere he transfers that will be true.

Harbaugh will have the best player play. But it's a fact that if Ruddock transferred here, the moment he did, he'd be the best QB on our roster. Could that change after practices? Sure. But if I were him is feel very good about my chances of starting.

Given B1G rules, I don't see how he'd be eligible (as he's lose a year for transferring w/in conference), but I'm sure folks are working on that.

They did change the rules, but if I read ESPN's description correctly:

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/58173/big-ten…

They are even more strict now, and would seem to be pretty clear that Rudock would not be eligible at all at Michigan.

The player no longer has to pay his own way, and no longer has to sit out 2 years, but now the player automatically loses a year of eligibility.  Which would mean that Jake Rudock, who has exactly 1 year of eligibility remaining, would have 0 years left if he comes to Michigan.

And a University of Maryland fan site says that there is no graduate exception to this rule:

http://www.terrapinclub.com/the-b1g-beat-intraconference-transfer-rule/

This, at least, confirms that there is an appeal process:

Not much to add, but I'm in the chorus of those saying, win now. I'm tired of the next year refrain, and I've been guilty of using it myself. Carpe Diem. I actually think the OL is starting to gel, which will help. So many good things I see:

  1. Light even more of a fire under Morris/Speight/Malzone. Let the best man win.
  2. If Rudock is better than Morris, the ship may have sailed on Morris. And I agree that it won't cripple Speight and Malzone to have a year of seasoning.
  3. If there's room for him on the roster, why not? No one should be afraid of competition.
  4. The more QB's you have, the better you have an opportunity for cream to rise to the top.
  5. Thinking of OSU, it hasn't hurt them to have three (3!!!) solid QB's on their roster. Cardale didn't moan and whine about his lot, but when his number was called, he was ready to go. I hate the idea of having only one solid QB, so that you're completely screwed if he goes down.
