Update on Amir Hekmati

Submitted by MGoCooper on

A little while back, I posted about my old friend Amir Hekmati, who had been sentenced to death by the Iranian governement for espionage. I wanted to thank the MgoBlog community for all of your signatures on the petition to help save an innocent man's life.

Just a quick update on his status. The Iranian supreme court has canceled the death sentence for Amir, and it is trending in a positive diection for him. It appears that the international pressure to free him, and all of the petitions are working. Once again, thanks to everyone for their support, after talking to Amir's Dad, I know he appreciates it as well.

This really is great news, and I do apologize if my comment came off as making light of this situation. I'll keep him in my prayers, and I hope this continues to trend upward in his favor.

Any chance my signature on the petition was the tipping point? :) glad this is moving in the right direction though, great news.

Despite that, I still thought this was gonna be an update on a recruit's top 5.
