UofM vs. MSU preview from the Enemy
So I know how most people rag on RCMB, but I thought some people might like to see a Michigan vs MSU game preview from the Enemy. It is actually pretty well done and doesn't rag on the team like most of their posts and gives good insight into the opposing team and their players.

I think its laughable how they attack our offensive stats as a result of poor competition while MSU has played WMU, FAU, Northern Colorado, Notre Dame, and possibly a vastly overrated Wisconsin team. OH HOW I HATE STATE!! GO BLUE!!

Yeah, I think I read something today that our SOS is about 10 spots higher (by higher I mean tougher) than MSUs, so they really don't have any place to argue yet. I just thought it was interesting to read something from the other team that would give me some insight to their players not named Cousins or Jones and most of his arguments definately seem to temper their excitement in this being a blow-out. I think UofM wins 38-31 because our defense was able to come up big last year against OSU and I think they come to play tomorrow as well. I also read in their that Avery was supposed to start which probably can't be worse than Rogers right.

Pretty sure I just say "the state game," kinda like how I say "the ohio state game". The fact that we're there is implied, since we're omnipresent anyway.

I agree with the thing about their D-line being better than our O-line. He must not have seen the donkeying that is taking place this year.

Not to nitpick, but he said their D-Line == our O-line. I still disagree with him, because I would say our O-line is > their D-Line.

I stopped when they asserted that Greg Jones is the best linebacker, evar, and Michigan had never faced anything like that.
Apparently they still don't know who Manti Teo is.

Did anyone else catch this paragraph? Hopefully we can mix it up and catch him offsides.
This should be a fun match-up to watch, especially DT Jerel Worthy. Why do I say that? Because Jerel is making a name for himself by timing the snap count and getting a great jump on the Center/Guard. The read-option required Robinson to take the snap, look to hand off to the RB, then either give it to the RB or pull back and then start running. A well timed jump puts Worthy in the backfield and gives UM 305 pounds of trouble to deal with.

Learned a decent amount about MSU, so it was interesting in that regard. It's got nothing on Brian's preview, though.
The whole thing seems about as reasonable a prediction as any. Hopefully the boys prove Brian right and RCMB wrong.

I only read the parts describing our team. I found it funny that he describes the 3-3-5 pretty well, but then still reverts to a typical 4-3 3-4 description of our personnel. He assumes that Kovacs is our SS and he has so many tackles because we are getting passed on so much.

I thought for a rival fan, it was a pretty in depth synopsis of our team (granted they wouldn't have the same knowledge of our team). I don' think I could go as in depth about theirs.
Only things I would point out where the Mich OL is clearly > the MSU Dline, and Vlad Emilien is no longer on our team.

When I read previews stating how Michigan hasn't faced a better-ranked defense yet, I wonder if that's because our offense thrashes every defense we face? Sure MSU has a decently ranked defense, but what offensive powerhouse have they faced? I'd easily put my money on State falling out of the better-half defensive rankings of the FBS after tomorrow.

when you take Michigan out of the equation, the defenses of our opponents are not exactly world-beaters.
- UConn gave up 326+ yards to Temple, Buffalo, and Vandy.
- ND gave up 322 to Purdue and 400+ to MSU and Stanford.
- BGSU gave up 376+ to every opponent so far, including 400+ to Buffalo and Troy and 546 to Tulsa.
- Indiana gave up 392 to Towson and 335 to Akron.
Then again, the offenses MSU has faced currently rank 27 (Wisco - held well below season avg), 48 (ND - gained 461 on MSU), 79 (WMU), 101 (FAU). FCS N Colorado doesn't count.

Holding Purdue to 322 yds isn't bad. Gotta remember that was probably the healthiest team Purdue has put on the field all year.

Some complaints about their preview are that, according to them, our backup to Kovacs is Vlad Emilien, and Kevin Leach is 2nd on our depth chart at linebacker, so I don't think they've actually been watching us a whole lot

Also, they talk about Denard being "erratic under pressure" ,especially on deep throws...they may want to watch the pass to Junior that set up the game winner last week

They may also want to look at Cousins and the couple of INTs he has thrown this season, including the first one against ND. He's prone to letting it fly under pressure, usually right into two DBs.

Not a horrible post. My one critique though is that he describes the zone read completely wrong. As most of us know, the QB is reading the backside DE, i.e. the player that the QB will try and run right past if he keeps it.

Am I wrong in thinking that he mis-explained the read option? I was always under the assumption that the QB "read" the unblocked backside DE on the traditional read option, that it had nothing to do with the frontside DE being lined up inside or outside the tackle.
edit: Madtadder seems to be on the same page as me. Faster fingers though!

I do think that referring to Denard as Dreadlock Jesus over and over again is pretty funny. Other than that, you can clearly see the bias...but then again this is to be expected. There is clearly bias/hope on Brian's part as well...but this guy seems to be pushing it a bit more.
I guess we see what we want to see. Hopefully tomorrow, this holds true, and we all see Denard/Dreadlock Jesus run for 400 yards and pass for 600...yep, I could go for a 1,000 Den-yard day.

The author makes a big deal that Denard is giving up 32 lbs to the smallest MSU linebacker.
Kirk Cousins is giving up 26 lbs to the smallest M linebacker...I mean, come on.

Typical Sparty to claim the Illinois read option combo of Juice Williams and Rashard Mendenhall was the best because they "chewed up more clock." TOP doesn't mean anything when each team has equal possessions unless an onside kick is recovered. Denard > Williams and Mendenhall or any other freaking spread combo out there
