Kids come in as freshmen like Trey and they don’t know what to say from a leadership standpoint, so they’re just listening and that’s where the other guys come in and show them the ropes.”

UofM Football Program Art (1920-1941)

The current Michigan Today has a slideshow article featuring covers from various football programs.  The 1925 OSU program is copied below, but they're all worth a peek if you like this sort of thing.  Article is here: http://michigantoday.umich.edu/2012/10/slideshow/index.html#1  .

I think these are incredible…a little infusion of artistic interpretation to a game void of it to the untrained eye.  In this same vein, the wallpaper that Monumental creates (TheArtTheArtTheArt) is one of my favorite things on this board.

I have no idea what programs look like now (haven't been to a game in 12+ years), but I think it'd be great to allow for student/artistic illustrations to make a comeback on programs.  These are great printed time capsules.

Thank you very little.

I haven't been to a game in 20+ years. How much are programs now? 25 cents is probably about $3 adjusted for inflation.

In October of 1929 they had a 100% increase on program price.  Not fair!

Edit: and a few weeks later it's back to 25 cents and stays that way for over a decade.  I wonder why the Harvard program was so expensive.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Regarding the decrease back to 25 cents, one would almost think that something happened in late October 1929 to change the amount of disposable income among college football fans.

I guess we will never know what that might be.

Seriously, though, I wonder if the Harvard game was a "premium" game at the time, and the program (and ticket?) prices reflected this.
