unsung hero: Martell Webb
I myself hate trite postings, but I just have to give Webb props for his play on Saturday. He recovered that fumble down near the opposing teams endzone, and on Denard's long run he threw a kick-ass block. Seems like a great move to have him at that h-back like position in the backfield. What an offense!

kick ass block. Web was the most consistent blocker outside of Molk. He was like the sixth offensive lineman.

Didn't he also (along with Cameron Gordon) block UConn's field goal?

good call... forgot to add that

Webb was great. Blocking TE and HB/FB.
the overall blocking by the TEs and WRs was outstanding. Millen was giving due props all game (which was nice to see an announcer realizing that although Denard was amazing, his team was making him even better).

He recovered the fumble because he was in the backfield chasing (not blocking) the guy who caused it....

still it was a heads up play. i thought it was his best game at michigan. i guess we will have to wait for the UFR to find out for sure.
Also, i didn't neg you for that. theres probably some truth to what you said.

Maybe that was the OP's point. You can see the play here (@~6:10):

Actually because the OLB gunned outside Webb didn't really need to block him. He took himself out of the path of Denard. But because Webb didn't give up on the guy and was there for a chip block he was standing over the loose ball.
But looking at this one play completely ignores a complete game of being a mini LT on the line, knocking LBs/DEs back 5 yards.
Actually... I re-watched the play and it seems that the guy Webb let by knocked the ball out but he did so by barely touching Denard, which i'd put on Denard not Webb.

his nostrils could not be contained

I was just waiting for that one.

Definitely props to Webb. He did all the dirty work and was paramount in a couple of big gainers. He'll only get better as the season progresses. This offense is scary good.

There's a great photo from AnnArbor.com of them in perfectly executed choreographic leap:

To ANY tight end who sticks with Rodriguez. If you follow the history of TE's under Rodriguez, they catch fewer passes than the guy who delivers my pizza every friday night.

Agreed 100 percent. Everyone knows I am a shameless Homer for my Toledo boy Kevin Koger, but the way Webb blocked all day long tells me he might be the one who gets all conference talk by the end of the year instead.

That blocked field goal which Webb had a hand in, is awesome enough to make me grin from ear to ear. Great way to kill any momentum that UConn could muster in the first quarter.
