"It's not about last year or who's here or who's isn't here," says your head coach. "It's about getting out here and competing and seeing who is here, and that's where we're gonna go."
my charles stewart jersey?
Close, but you actually have the jersey of another mediocre DB, James Whitley.
whitley was not mediocre. he was terrible. he was abused at a rate that would've made him at home in last year's secondary.
I was there when Jimmy was playing. Friends and I used to call him Sh*tly. He was beyond terrible
you do realize there were probably 4 or 5 other CBs behind him on the depth chart. i think he even made it to the nfl.
Speaks to how little depth we had at CB those years. Remember Todd Howard (converted WR)? He was starting around that same time. Just because he was up there on the depth chart does not make him good by Michigan standards. He did not live up to whatever ranking he had coming out of high school.
I already got me a Courtney Avery jerz. Although I like the idea of seeing Hayes in the Cinco.
I was curious to see if Hoke would try to break the cycle of giving duplicates of everything under #20. But I also guess that single digits are #trendy and all that.
5+8 = 13
Last weekend we had Friday the 13th.
Friday the 13th....Freaky Friday.....Lindsey Lohan.....DUI......Stonum......2009 ND Kckoff return.....Notre Dame....This must mean that I am getting tickets to the Michigan Notre Dame game, thanks!
Love what you did there, but hated seeing the Stonum - DUI thing, as it pains me to see such talent wasted by a guy that just can't seem to keep out of trouble. So, I reworked it:
Friday the 13th....Freaky Friday.....Lindsey Lohan.....DUI......Michael Floyd.....Notre Dame....
It is just cleaner that way.
to get a DB on our roster that wears the #2 jersey and bares some resemblance in his play to CW. I'm not asking that he be AS good as CW (that is a lot to ask), but at least be somewhat close....please!
I thought JT Turner would be the guy, but I guess I was wrong.
I think that most NFL teams would like to have a CB that is somewhat close to Charles Woodson. I would just be happy with a good CB wearing #2 - I don't think that we will ever see a college CB as good as Charles Woodson. The guy shut down half of the field. He intercepted balls that even tacopants couldn't catch (as your awesome avatar pic shows). He returned punts as good as just about anyone. And he was a pretty damn good receiver.
"Somewhat close" to Charles Woodson is an All-America lock at corner, All-Big Ten punt returner (if there was such a thing) and also just about as good as any receiver on roster right now. Even having someone who could shut down half as much of the field as Woodson would probably net another win next year.
You're basically never going to see a CB shut down half the field anymore, and not just because Woodson was awesome, but because teams no longer send only two WRs out on passing downs. The 1998 Rose Bowl was pretty much the only time we faced a 4-wide formation, and while Woodson covered his man like a glove, WSU still threw for 300 yards by avoiding him. The game's changed.
when is my #1 jersey getting dusted off?
when roundtree has sufficiently kissed braylon's ass
when roundtree stops dropping so many a pass
when roundtree shows he's in that class...
sorry, i thought we were rhyming.
Anybody want a peanut?
I gave you a plus one for the reference to princess bride, but you should have used the line "no more rhyming, I mean it!".
How many passes hit Braylon right in the hands and then went to the turf?
More than I care to remember, but the good thing is that none of those dropped passes really cost us in a game....
Oh wait, that's not true...damnit!
to discount all the awesome plays he made.
First play from scrimmage. USC. Rose Bowl.
He caught some big ones, don't get me wrong.
So you got the crazy eyes huh?
He's the recruit I am most eager to see this fall.
Well, you know .... besides the new kicker, of course.
Aaron Burbridge possibly? Anyone have any idea of his 40?
Where the hell did that question come from out of curiosity?
If Justice would like to channel on-field Reggie Bush while wearing #5, that would be acceptable.
Is it September yet..?
I just want it to be August so that fall practice starts.
see a Michigan tailback wearing the number 5 it makes me think of....David Underwood.
I think of Gordon Bell. Although I was not even ten years old then.
Just let me keep rockin' my 16 jersey for the next two falls and I'll be very happy.
By the way, love the "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions" sewn into the inseam on the new jerseys (not like it's breaking news, just think it's effin awesome).
Can we pleeeeeeease bring back Nike when this damn contract with addidas is over. No Camo though....
Pretty sure they have been on them Since RR's Hire, with the years of our big ten championships too.
slappy too! Fellow #16 jersey wearers unite!
jersey that was way too small out of principle alone. They were sold out of everything else.
I became the champion for John Navarre over his last 2 years at Michigan, as it sounds several others on this site were as well. I wanted to fight everything: the internet, the papers, and sports talk radio. Sonuvabitch, he's out there doing his best, chill. Ahhhh, but I digress.
Only 4 times in the history of Michigan football have we beaten:
MSU, Minnesota, ND and OSU in the same season.
Johnny was QB for one of those 4 seasons.
Marell Evans announced on Twitter that he's changing his number from #9, as he and Odoms will do some special teams together.
It's the only single digit missing from the fleet. Then I'll be able to effectively count to ten in maize and blue... and there's got to be some reason that I'd need to be able to do that, right?
Maybe some stuff from the Chill will stick around the Big House, and you'll need to count off all of Denard's ten touchdowns against OSU?
One of my all time favorites.
Does anyone else know when the rest of players will have their jersey numbers announced? Or does any have any predictions for jersey numbers for the 2011 class?
Welpz, my #5 is autographed by Tate, so I'm going to keep it in the back of my closet indefinitely.
