Washouts and Followers
The U Chicago theme was always the best. Delany is an idiot.
Herp & Derp
I, for one, would be much happier with "herp and derp" than leaders and legends.
also make the list?
Tom & Jerry?
No, but Schlemiel and Schlimazel did.
Lakes and Plains were a great suggestion. However it wouldn't feel right with Michigan and MSU (the Great Lakes State Schools) in the Plains division with Nebraska and Iowa. Especially with Northwestern in the same division, which is literally right on the Great Lakes.
I am glad they did not chose. I'm also glad they didn't go for Tops and Bottoms.
Or if you heard on PTI, something along the lines of "teams that lose to the SEC" and "teams that will lose to the SEC" that's where I heard it first at least.
it does not apply to Michigan at all.
I was in Kentucky and reading a University of Kentucky blog and they were coming up with names for the Big Ten. Some of them were so bad they didn't even make any sense.
"well if we’re being honest….
1) Teams Kentucky couldn’t come within two touchdowns of
2) Teams Kentucky couldn’t come within 3 touchdowns of
How appropriate they pick carolina, baby blue for the logo.
1. Wool sweater division
2. Birkenstock division
1.North 2. Norther"
Dahmer and Kaczynski.
(John L) Smith and Cooper
Flaming pots of rotten poo and Chuck was the first runner up I hear.
P and not P
hard and edge
Harbaugh and Rodriguez
"The Division with all the M and N Teams plus Iowa" and the "Everything Else" Division
Not long ago the "Power Division" and the "Glory Division" were suggested... I would've much rather have the Conference choose these two than 'Legends' and 'Leaders'.
That being said, I'm glad we got to be in the Legends Division, the 'Leaders' is just plain retarded...
Especially if the Leaders division also ends up being historically the better division.
Then, Michigan would be linked to the Leaders and Best division.
That would be really "retarded."
Barbasol and Rotel
I was thinking "Hass Division" and "Wolf Brand Division"
and of course, Wisconsin would be in the Velveeta division.
Right after the Big Ten renames itself to become "Queso."
This is funny! That would be the biggest sell out move they could possibly choose, but if the price was right I wouldn't put it past them.
Ward & Millen
Michigan division and who cares division
"What kinda speed do they got?!?!!" and "...with a chance!"
with us of course in gryffindor
Kirk & Picard
Neo & Smith
Woodson & Boston
I found out who picked the names, and unfortunately, he's one of us. He did have the closest (I can't say best) guess...
I personally would really like to see a Leadership Division and a Scholarship Division.
Talk about branding!
Every time these divisions are spoken, it would remind the players, coaches and fans that the Big Ten stands for the highest ideals of college education and personal growth.
It would be a statement that the Big Ten wants all its students to reach their greatest potential as members of our society.
On the margin, these names would even help recruiting, imho.
the two divisions names were going to be
Division with Michigan
Division without Michigan
T & A Divisions. It's geographical!
Burress and Clarett
The "Awkwardly Feminine" and the "Possibly Canadian."
I think we all know which is which.

Hatfields and McCoys
Lennon / McCartney
Jagger / Richard
Peaches and Cream
Martini & Rossi
Headliners & Legends
Leaders and Best
Abbott & Costello
the names that came in 2nd were Delany A and Delany B
since the rich Big Ten history flows through those two icons like the force.
Alternates: Mac and PC
Finkel and Einhorn
Finkel IS Einhorn though.
Does that mean it'd be a one-division 12 team league with the top 2 teams playing in the Big 10 Championship Game?
it'll leave you in the shower crying, wishing it never happened.
I think I found out who's responsible for the names
Wow. I didn't see that coming.... zing!
the "All-Americans" and the "Sweatervests"
"18 syllables" and "20 syllables"
the "superior 6" and the "6 that include ohio"
But, Tom Harmon was left off. Fielding Yost, Willie Heston, too.
From State: Webster, Van Pelt and Munn.
I'm sure many others: Nitschke, Dawson, Adderley. The list is a long one.
Industry: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin
Agriculture: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern
Kind of, maybe works...or not.
No good explanation. Just liked the names.
Never made it out of the focus group stage, sadly.
Chong. What were they smokin to come up with those names!
Every time I hear the L & L names I throw up a little in my mouth...it's like a bad dream and I can't wait until I wake up from this horrible nightmare.
Howard and Herbstreit.
The East Lansing delegation pushed hard for "Smoke" and "Fire".

General Zod & Phat Non
three yards / cloud of dust
