Uniformz!

Submitted by moorebluego on

HGI's facebook page posted pictures from the AFCA and it found these 2 pictures... I'm hoping they just put a Michigan helmet on top of a standard jersey but Maize Jerseys with Blue Pants...

Blue pants will happen sooner than people are willing to admit.  Maize jerseys will follow shortly after.

This ain't your daddy's Michigan Football program anymore.

I walk the line on the whole uniformz debate . . . I want the all-whites from the 80s, can tolerate slight changes to finish or some stripes, but hate the all-out swapping of colors.

I am more interested in what the fat man in the bottom picture did to necessitate his arm being in a sling.

I hate it.  With the white-hot-hatred of a million suns. It is worse than any other of the crazy uniforms by a factor of ten.

I'm not joking. I'm not just grousing. Maize is a great color for basketball and hockey. But football home jerseys ought to be dark. Michigan Navy Blue, specifically, where it pertains to our team.

Fortunately, I think that's a Riddell mockup... but it is a horrible one.

suite this past season (one of the suites i was a server for) the question was asked of the adidas rep about why michigan didn't have anymore alternate jerseys this year... her (the rep) exact words were "michigan just doesn't want to pay for them"... so unless DB loosens the purse strings when it comes to uniforms this isn't going to happen any time soon...

I just assumed that Adidas/Nike/UA provided those jerseys without a cost to the university.  I wonder if these contracts are written for 2 jerseys (or whatever your standard is) and then each additional one is a cost to the university.

Or they were just lying about it and Michigan just didn't want them.

My guess is that since it's a Riddell display, it seems like they put the Michigan helmet (a Riddell product) on a generic Michigan-colored jersey (because Michigan jerseys are a non-Riddell product), rather than being actual new uniformz.

Just my guess, though.

This looks like Riddell simply trying to get people intrigued by their helmet exhibit, I would think, but all the same, I would hope there is some sort of eyewash station nearby for people as they walk away from their area. I couldn't fathom those at Michigan, but you would think that Adidas would be kind enough - just once - to let them outfit a more true-to-life mockup rather than parade that out there. Yikes.

to mess with classic styling and tradition.

This is what separates Michigan and MSU. Michigan doesn't need to change its uniform style to stay trendy, MSU does because apparently different is better.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, except changing helmet models and jerseys and pants only works off the field when you're good on it.

What is "HGI"? Hilton Garden Inn? If so, are you friends with "Hilton Garden Inn" on Facebook, or do you "like" that particular page? I'm just curious, as it's a really obscure acronym to throw out, IME.

are all about the Uniforms..We have to Keep Up  ...Now you might say that the uniforms dont

matter in a kids decision BUT sometimes stuff like that DOES Matter..You never know

what the tipping point is with todays Kids...Keeping up with the current trends is important

Other schools can do it and it's cool because they have colors and styles that mesh well with alternates.  Miami (YTM), Baltimore, Oregon, they all spring to mind.  I don't think there's a really good way to make an alternate Michigan uniform in the same way.

If they had to wear pink to get back to championship contension then i don't care if its the bee revisited, pink, or what have you.  Just give me my fall happiness back.

I like them. If you follow any of the players on twitter, they definitely get amped over uniforms on tv. Heck, I saw a Devin Gardner tweet talking about someone else's uniforms a month back. Kids love the alternates. Gotta keep up with the trend I guess.
