Uniformz: Nike says that our new uniforms will be traditional and not have many changes

Submitted by michgoblue on

Nothing concrete, but the Nike design director for NFL and NCAA apparel said at a Nike event that Nike is "planning on sticking close to tradition" with respect to our uniforms and that Michigan will retain much of the creative controle over our uniforms.  Here's the money quote that is sure to make many here (including me) happy:

“Especially with (Jim) Harbaugh there and his roots there. I would foresee something more along the lines of what we know and love about Michigan.”

Leave home and away jerseys the same. Always and forever.

I'd prefer if we don't go with alternate uniforms again. If we absolutely have to, make it a high profile non-conference night game.

I don't like wearing alternates ever during the regular season - but if you're saying it's an absolute must. Non-conference (big) night games only. NEVER for a B1G game.

My one "for the kids" tweak I'd like to see...I'd like to see all-blue uniforms vs. all-maize in the spring game ONLY. A true maize vs. blue game - sell the uniforms after the game and give ALL proceeds to Mott's Children's Hospital.

This way Nike gets to make it's alternate, the recruits and young folks get to buy a third jersey, and the money goes to a great place. For one spring game that doesn't mean anything...I can live with it. I think it would be pretty cool actually.

P.S. No alternates in bowl games either, just stick to what we do best for regular season and postseason play.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and everyone can be one too. Some people like Nike, Some people like Adidas, some people like Russell athletic uniforms. Some people like Alternatives, some people don't. Let people decide for themselves and don't be such a dick and ram yours down their opinions.

That's one of the times that the entire nation is looking at you. That's one of the times you're traveling and fans who can't get to A2 get to see you in person...I don't like wearing alternates for those.

Just like the game versus Bama in Dallas.

I HATED that Oregon didn't even have it's school colors on their jersey for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! That was going to be a picture in every office, on t-shirts, something for the ages...and you couldn't even tell it was Oregon.

Michigan should wear it's regular uniforms in bowl games.

That's twice that Oregon did that.  It was an embarrassment, added on to by the way they played on the field.  It's like they knew they were going to play like crap, so might as well look like it too.

I still have pictures of Michigan in their classic home unis in the de-facto NC game in the Rose Bowl in 1997.  Looking iconic like Michigan should.

Could you imagine if we showed up in some black and gray alternative instead?

Matte chrome thunderbolts with metal stamped flames coming off them.  Adding new colors neon lavendar & agressive pink.  Also, the helmet decals is like, old or something.  Time for an oversize jumpman logo that spills over onto the jerseyz.

Nike IS NOT ALLOWED by Bama, Texas, USC to fuck with their classic looks.  Michigan needs to hold just as firm.

Nike would turn every school into Oregon if they were allowed.  And they would come up with studies and surveys and reasonings to support their puking up yet another monstrosity.

I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on chrome helmets. USC did them for a game and they were awesome. The design would be the same just a chrome finish.
