Uniformz. ND with the new UA unis..... (not good)
August 19th, 2014 at 3:05 PM ^
for every game? woof.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:11 PM ^
Just Purdue.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:57 PM ^
Purdue is a big game for ND. Throw out the record books when those two get together.
August 19th, 2014 at 6:27 PM ^
There was a time when they were known as "the Spoilermakers."
August 19th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
True but none of us was alive then (well I was)...Other than a few years of .500 ball, they have done nothing since the late 60's.
ND 57–26–2 all time record.
August 19th, 2014 at 11:52 PM ^
and a fan of Michigan/CFB going back to the late 60's, and you're pretty much right about Purdue's overall "suckage" over the last 45 years. The only thing I'd differ with is that they've actually had two short "eras" of success: the Jim Young/Mark Herrmann period (late 70's thru '80) and the Joe Tiller/Drew Brees period (especially while Brees was there, tho they remained somewhat competetive for several more seasons until Tiller retired). Purdue actually had some very good-to-great teams for a few consecutive seasons during those two periods.
August 20th, 2014 at 12:04 AM ^
ok, I concede you make some good points.
August 20th, 2014 at 3:07 PM ^
The term "Spoilermakers" isn't based on successful eras. It is based on the habit of bad Purdue teams upsetting national powers. It happened to us in 1976. UM was number 1 in the country and they beat us 16-14 when Bob Wood's 37-yard field goal attempt sailed wide at game's end.
They really earned the name against ND. See http://www.uhnd.com/blog/history/irish-stewed-spoilermakers-5296/
"As insignificant as you think Purdue might be, they didn’t come by their nickname “The Spoilermakers” for nothing. What team ended Notre Dame’s school-record 39-game unbeaten streak? Purdue. What team has ended double-digit unbeaten and/or winning streaks by Notre Dame on four separate occasions, more than any other Irish opponent? Purdue. What team holds the record for the most points scored in one game by an opponent in Notre Dame Stadium ? Purdue. What was the only team to defeat a #1 ranked Notre Dame team twice in the Ara Parseghian era? Yep, still Purdue."
Also see: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1987-09-25/sports/8703120707_1_notre…
"Ten of Purdue`s 17 victories since 1950 can be classified as ``major upsets.`` In 14 of its 17 losses to Purdue from 1950 to 1987, Notre Dame was ranked in the nation`s top 20. Four of the losses came when the Irish were No. 1, two when they were No. 2, one when they were No. 6, two when they were No. 8 and one when they were No. 9."
As to any question about how recent this is, I started by saying "there was a time . . ."

Honestly, take away the weird stripe on the pants and they aren't that bad. Better than the striped numbers for sure.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
wow...
August 19th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
So the regular home and away's are exactly the same as they've worn the past few years except the UA logo on the shoulder replacing the adidas logo at the neck. Honestly, I am not a fan of the alternates but they are way more conservative than what they've worn for the "Shamrock Series" the past few years.
I am by no means an ND fan but I'd guess they are quite attached to the gold dome helmets, yet they wear these monstrous perversions of it at least once a year...no matter how much we complain about uniformz ND has it way worse.

Timberland boots!
August 19th, 2014 at 3:10 PM ^
Smif N Wessun would love these.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:07 PM ^
Not for every game. Just the Shamrock Series game vs Purdue... still one game too many

Washington? That you?
August 19th, 2014 at 4:58 PM ^
I thought I was looking at a Power Rangers screen shot at first.
August 19th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
First thing I thought too
August 19th, 2014 at 5:30 PM ^
Notre Pitt.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:09 PM ^
This uniform(z) is much worse than Michigan's uniform(z).
August 19th, 2014 at 3:11 PM ^
Than the weird half shamrock/half leprechaun helmets of a few years, ago, but they are hideous. Not as bad as those Maryland unis, though. It seems like the only attractive UA uniforms have been the Northwestern redesigns.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:12 PM ^
Looks just like the Navy uniforms
August 19th, 2014 at 3:14 PM ^
That's what I thought - doesn't immediately scream ND. Too much Navy Blue.
August 19th, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
Either way, why you'd want to re-design your classic uniforms--even for one game--to end up looking like two teams you regularly play is beyond me.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:12 PM ^
Yikes. Red wing boots with stupid stripes on the pants. The rest is doable I guess
August 19th, 2014 at 3:12 PM ^
for ND.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:13 PM ^
....including another look at the helmet and the tasteful Baroque undershirt:
Here's what Notre Dame will wear vs. @BoilerFootball on 9/13. Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/ozVh4fsgij

That undershirt is the most batshit insane thing I've ever seen. It beats those crazy state flag helmets from Maryland.
August 19th, 2014 at 5:18 PM ^
I actually think they look cool
August 19th, 2014 at 5:58 PM ^
I think they look cool too, but only because I hate ND.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:23 PM ^
That undershirt pattern is only slightly less hideous than an AJ McCarron tattoo. The pregame locker room will be filled with bleeding eyes.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:34 PM ^
a particular form of Catholic interrogation
August 19th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
The undershirt looks like some type of tunic that a 40 year old guy with a paunch and a pony tail would wear going to a "renaissance faire."

King's Landing
August 19th, 2014 at 3:13 PM ^
Pitt Panthers.
August 19th, 2014 at 4:15 PM ^
concur. Took me half a second to think that.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:14 PM ^
It looks like they used the UTL III unis as a template...
August 19th, 2014 at 3:24 PM ^
Pitt Panthers circa 1976 - 1982
Or simply wearing the Panthers uniforms from their game with Florida State last year:
August 19th, 2014 at 4:10 PM ^
The old Pitt uniforms were sweet. They should go back to them. Unique in college football.
August 19th, 2014 at 4:24 PM ^
Not that unique - looks just like UCLA.
August 19th, 2014 at 7:30 PM ^
LA, with all due respect, they are not the same. UCLA is powder blue and gold, while Pitt was darker blue with a matte, mustard color helmet.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:17 PM ^
I really like these. Just a difference of opinion.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:18 PM ^
you might as well have angled strips of duct tape on your pants.
August 19th, 2014 at 3:19 PM ^
Atrocious. Just looking at those makes me want to throw up in my mouth...
August 19th, 2014 at 3:20 PM ^
God Damnit Dave Brandon! Will you stop at nothing to ruin my college football viewing experience!?!?!
August 19th, 2014 at 5:26 PM ^
and another honorary +1 pertaining to soul of college football being sold.
