Unfortunate/funny ESPN advertising

Submitted by crg on

Was checking ESPN's UM football site and happened to see this combination of banner ad and headline story/photo.  Thoughts?

I go back and nudge Coach Baxter to tell Blake "Son, just eat the ball if there's a problem" just before that play.

Then, you know, killing Hitler and using the sports almanac to be the world's greatest gambler.

So you're saying drinking caused Blake O'Neill to muff the punt!?

By that rationale did it also give him the confidence to kick a 80 yard punt earlier in the game to pin back MSU near their own goal line?

I may be missing the heavy sarcasm of posters above but I think that "Don't trust yourself when you drink." is in reference to the OP (or us fans, more generally) and our general proclivity to want to drink any and all alcoholic beverages when even the thought of that play enters our mind.

But, I saw a commercial yesterday for Xfinity (I think) with Michigan playing ND on the TV. I believe it's the last time we played ND, because Gardner is the QB and he is wearing the away uniform. So another kick in the nuts to start your weekend.

Never EVER are.

I mean 100% of the time that somebody posts something that they think is hillarious It's absolutely guarenteed to be not funny.

Myself included.  I think I've posted three or four things through the years I thought were funny and about 5 comments in I realized just how stupid it was.  So I'm not exempt here from the "its so FUNNY" (no it's really not) rule.
