Unconfirmed Dennis Norfleet Snapchat thing

Submitted by Gucci Mane on

Dennis Norfleet announced today on snapchat that he tried to get back into Michigan but it was not to be. He said he appreciated his fans, and the people at Michigan. He will be headed down to Alabama to play D2 ball at Tuskegee.

Dennis was on of my favorite players, he will be missed.

[Ed-S: Nothing yet from Norfleet in any other social media, nor from any sources who've had good info up until now. Please post screengrab or something to back this up. Understand: people saying "I read on MGoBlog that..." can make us look really bad, even if it's message board.]

edit: I know Dennis, and I'm friends with him on snapchat, so I saw this first hand. I would put all my mgopoints towards this being the truth ( mgopoints are better than gold).

Damn. He could have been good. He never was, and probably never would have really panned out, but I held out hope. Since it's D2, I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope he leads his team to a natty

Fleetwood is hard to beat though. You cant ever knock is coverage on special teams and he does actually have a lot of yards as a return man. Never took it to the house though. That damn Roby.

A lot of kids from Detroit who have an opportunity to attend college area usually up at Tuskegee (grew up with several)...should be a comfortable enviornment for him down there. Wish the best to him.

Always thought he was immensely talented as a returner, even though our awful special teams never let him truly show it. He'll light it up in D2 and I wouldn't be surprised to still see him try out for an NFL team when he graduates. Best of luck to the guy

I'm gonna miss me some Northfolk!

But best of luck to one of the most entertaining of all Michigan Wolverines, a young man who committed to a last-minute offer four years ago and made the best of his good fortune (except for never taking one to the house that actually counted).

I'm gonna be keeping on eye on Tuskegee Football in the same way I kept an eye on Idaho State Football when Matt Gutierrez transferred there almost a decade ago.  Let's see you finally get a bunch of TD's on kickoff and punt returns, Dennis!

Obviously I don't know all of the details, but if it's true that he had ~3.0 g.p.a. After three years and didn't have a major then his advisors or someone failed him. I wish him nothing less than the best.

He could have carried a 3.3 GPA through 4 semesters and if he had a 1.2 for this last semester he would have been declared ineligible for fall sports. Also, if he received incompletes in any classes he may have fallen under the minimum credit hour threshhold. That's how it was when I played and I am assuming things haven't changed drastically. He must have had quite a bit to make up and was unable to do so. This is of course assuming that the source is true and he isn't able to come back...

I wish him nothing but the best. One of the few things I disagree with this blog on is the worshipful reverence of Norfleet, a guy who has -- what?? One kickoff return past midfield in three years? -- limited success on the field. It just wasn't there.

How many other punt or kickoff returners scored TDs for Michigan in the last 3 years?

Ok, how many big returns?

Blocked field goals & punts?

Our dominating spread punt system that swarmed the other team?

WE COULDN'T EVEN FUCKING GET 11 PLAYERS ON THE FIELD!

Maybe Dennis Norfleet was the single bright (or even less dim) spot on the most embarassing special teams unit in all of college football.

I don't think Norfleet was as much overhyped as he was "over-hoped".

I posted this in the comments section of my site the other day, so I'm ripping myself off here (LINK):

Fact: Of the players who have 10+ career kickoff returns in Michigan history, Norfleet is #14 in yards/return.

Fact: New kickoff rules that discourage kickoff returns were not in place until Norfleet was Michigan's kickoff returner; therefore, almost everyone else on Michigan's list was unencumbered by the new rules.

Fact: Norfleet's yards/return is equal to or better than those of Derrick Alexander, Anthony Thomas, Amani Toomer, Martavious Odoms, Tyrone Wheatley, Todd Howard, and Stan Edwards, just to name a few.
