I respect umbig11 and the info he has brought to the board, but his opinion on the Isaiah Wilson scenario seemed more like just expressing the frustration from the UM side.

This is college football, there isn't going to be any punishment, death penalty, etc... That's just how it is, some teams cheat and push the limits, most get away with it.

Georgia obviously provided Wilson with benefits we wouldn't, and the hard truth is they won't receive any punishment for it.

was that Georgia was hiring one of his HS coaches. That's a legal inducement, although maybe not if it's conditional on his committment. When the NCAA votes on allowing a 10th assistant coach, they are also going to vote on restricting hiring the coaches and relatives of recruits. They can be full assistant coaches, but nothing below that. It will be retroactive to January. Since that's been known for some time, you have to wonder what is going on.

There was also a rumor on these boards that Georgia was buying another of our recruits. That didn't happen. UMBig11 was not the source for that one.

Agree it's frustration, but actually think that the "certainty" that Wilson only flipped because of unethical behavior seems a bit too certain to me. Sure it's possible. It's also possible that he legit flipped.

And the fact that we are in on all these guys that we are worried are getting inducements should give us pause about assuming that our recruiting rivals are totally corrupt but that we are totally innocent.

Whatever Jalen, you live in a candy cane, lollipop and gingerbread house fantasy land. Whenever you wake up and see the obvious out there, you're going to get a big pile of shit right in the face and it won't be pleasant. Wilson's situation reeks of shenanigans. You don't see anyone saying this stuff about Najee or Willie Gay do you? You'll catch on someday like the rest eventually do.

Seems a pretty typically human thing, we all love Michigan and so it's difficult to think that someone might make a different choice and then the mind goes STRAIGHT to what makes sense to us as far as making said different choice.   Especially somewhere most Michigan fans have little to no familiarity with and in an area they have been taught to look down their noses at.

I was always with Seth's explanation on why Georgia is recruiting better and a sudden threat for guys around the country, but I do see why people got suspicious about what appeared to be a sudden change of heart.

Who exactly is UMBig11? Not to be rude but the breaking news on Asiasi was posted on insider boards nearly 8 hours earlier.

If I'm wrong and he/she is truly connected I apologize.

Now obviously they have a much richer history, tradition and recruiting grounds, but Smart's recruiting class coming off a meh season and no history of success as a head coach creates a lot of smoke.  Add in the flipping of recruits after 1 visit / no prior interest or relationships and it starts to look even fishier.

I'm not so naive as to believe that this doesn't exist to some degree at every big time program, but the SEC seems to do it so shamelessly with straight pay for play (instead of indirectly through jobs, perks, family relocation) that you end up with Ole Miss situations and the martyrdom of Hugh Jeezus. Smart better win fast or the shit will boil to the surface and UGA will be exposed just like Ole Miss.

Saban and boosters have mastered the division of labor and avoid conflict by having little to no contact. The coach recruits and coaches above board, the boosters and admin "staff" handle the payroll.

UGA has a history of recruiting, of relative football success, they have an elite academic institution, and they have a campus that is a draw in itself. These are all things that Ole Miss doesn't have. Add a former Saban coach and you can get a top 5 recruiting class without bagmen.

Sometimes we will lose recruiting battles when we go up against the sec. Let's not all bitch about it and assume cheating when it happens. It makes us all look whiney.

I'd say UGa is a good public college, but they seem more like an OSU or a PSU than a UM or UCLA. Still, it's an attractive school in a talent rich area. they should be able to recruit. The issue is that Smart came in and changed a lot about the program to look more like Alabama, including pushing for changes to FOIA requests and disclosures, so assuming they'll still be like the old Georgia in terms of behavior and reputation might not apply.

Let it go.  Wilson ain't coming here.

SEC teams cheat and we still out-recruited 85.7% of them, and essentially tied one of their other top.

We are on the right trajectory.
