This is the first I've heard of it and am saddened. UMass's players, band, and his family are in my thoughts now. Tragic.

Man the UMass band has had a tough morning. I think their director has passed away at least 3 or 4 times today.

You can still save this thread. Edit the title to say Guest Book for UMass Band Director and post this link:

It's nice to read the tributes from his friends and former students.

Maybe we should do something similar to what Texas did with the University of Wyoming tragedy. Have a brief moment of silence and really give their band a good round of cheers when they are out there.

It's still on the gd front page.

On the note of the moment of silence:
In England when dignitaries or other stars pass away, they've stopped doing the moment of silence because rubes have the chance to ruin the moment. Instead, they do a minute's applause.
I wish Michigan Stadium could bring this quite appropriate tribute to America, and honor this fine man in a similar way.

I like the applause...love the Brits.

Stop flipping out over re-posts on this. Lots of people only see what's along the side and the more cheers and less boos for the band the better.
