UM Womens Swim Coach Retires
He tweeted this a few moments ago, so there is clarification:
Apologies, earlier tweet should have read that Jim Richardson announced his *retirement*, not resignation. Nothing fishy here.
He retired with 14 Big Ten Championships, a national runner-up in the 1995 NCAA Championships, a 175-77 all-time record making him the winningest coach in program history.
record. A true Michigan Man.
Coach Richardson is a great guy. In addition to being an obviously successful coach with a great program, he was the head coach of the Wolverine Swim Camp, at least for the several summers my sons attended about 6-8 years ago. He was a wonderful man and really great with the kids.
I wish him all the best in his retirement.
So, whose the new coach going to be? I think we need to bring someone in that understands the tradition and culture of Michigan Womens Swimming program. No outsiders! Make the right hire DB.
