I would rather see morford on the floor together than see robinson play 38 minutes.  If he isnt catching alley oops he is worthless.  Good thing he can jump high there is a career on the Harlem Globetrotters awaiting him.

Does this staff have a specific defensive minded/specialist assistant coach?

Generally speaking, how does the defensive coaching work with this staff?

These last 3 games have showed me 1 thing, Stauskas and GRIII are going to be back next season.   Only way I see them leaving is if they both have a phenomenal tournament (similar to Mitch last season).

Stauskas hasn't shown he has the 'head' for the NBA game.  If he has a bad game, it seems that carries over into many games after.  It takes him a long time to shake it and go back to his game.

GRIII just doesn't seem to have the 1x1 skills.  I think the NBA hype got to him, he just needs to play his game.  Don't try 1x1 moves, get the buckets slashing and driving within the offense.  Also needs work on his outside jump shot.

Irvin is going to hit 7 second half three's, and Nik Stauskas is going to contribute 34 points and 15 assists, and Michigan will win by the final score of 99 - 68

If they were just hitting 50% from 3 we would be down 5 points. I know most of their 3s have been open looks, but still 80% is ridiculous. Let's see if the law of averages helps us out a little bit. Id like to see us make it close at least.

We miss McGary.

Teams just totally ignore Morford, They switch guards onto those two and we can't take advantage. There's a reason our offense took it to another level when Mitch got going last year. He's so, so much better on the offensive end than Morford.

So everybody wants Glen benched but how bout Nik? He's not scoring, he's not a good defender, he's doing nothing this game has been doing nothing the past three games games. I get it Glen has to play better but him being criticized the way him and Caris do while Nik gets a pass is ridiculous. Be critical of everybody who plays poor or just shut up.

I love him but he deserves some questioning here. The new defense of Stauskas is clear, they are going to follow the Duke and IU blueprint of putting smaller quicker defenders on him and we knew that coming in. Why has Beilein not drawn up a new wrinkle to get Nik some confidence early on? How about some double or even triple screens to combat this defense? You just can't have your best player be completely neutralized and just smile about it.

Another area where I am questioning Beilein, and I do that reluctantly because I know he is a great coach, but why does Levert guard the other teams best player? He is just awful trying to stay with guys moving without the ball! Take a page from the Stauskas defense and put a smaller quicker player on Marble, maybe Walton and see if he can at least stay near him.

Agreed but Beilein can draw up all the double/triple screens for Nik but it won't matter because he's not moving without the ball. The players in general don't move a lot without the ball on offense and that is what bothers me about this team. They have too many guys who can slash to the basket but don't and I don't know if it's because they are coached to not do so or because they are not instinctive enough to do so. There is no reason why Robinson runs to the corner every time down the court unless Michigan has numbers. if he would run to the rim or cross the lane he could get some better looks and easier shots for him and others because they would have to respect him ability at the rim.

It never ceases to amaze that Glenn and Caris absord 90% of the vitriol from this board when Nik has been just as bad or worse, yet again.

Haven't heard the calls to bench Nik. Why exactly do the other two catch such a disproportionate amount of the rage?

People are harder on GRIII because he came in as a 5* player and all the off-season hype built him into a lottery player.  Clearly he is not living up to that this year.  Meanwhile nobody expected Nik to be more than a lights-out shooter when he committed, yet he has turned into this team's best offensive threat.  And Caris was a late commit so the fact that he is unquestionably a starter surpasses most people's expectations.

I realize we are not going to run the table and be undefeated, so my expectations are in line with the reality of college basketball, but those guys seriously seem to be phoning it in. yes..Iowa is on fire.... But I am consistently seeing M guys not back on defense and not really seeming to be moving at 100% on either end. Here is hoping that Belin can adjust and scheme them back into it enough that they can pick up some momentum.

Nik Stauskas is simply not playing ball. Formula is simple. He can't beat a good defender and we don't have anyone who can set him up.
