UM v UF 2017 Jerry World Tickets

Submitted by bigmc6000 on
Does anyone know when the tickets for the game at Jerry World will go on sale? I don't really get many opportunities to see UM down here so I'm really looking forward to it (especially since this is apparently the last neutral site game for the foreseeable future).

$500 will get you season tickets in AA and the seats in dallas are miles from the field and probably the same fiasco with the band going/not going. Probably only a handful of students there for either team. It's just not the same experience. But yeah, the team will be there and likely 1/5 the cost of season tickets, so if you live there already, go for it. But i wouldn't travel for it

Particularly given the outcome.  And Blake Countess's injury.

I've heard getting to and from that stadium can be a problem unless you have your own car and a known parking space.  Assuming you'll get a parking space if you just drive there is a dicey thing, and taking a cab to the stadium means you'll wait a long time to get a cab back.

There are hotels within walking distance and the Rangers have a home game that Saturday so the Hotels around will run a trolly for the rangers game you can probably hop on depending on what time they start

I was on the 40 yard line, but about 5 rows from the top.  The stadium is so vertical that being that high up I just kept watching the 60 yard tv in front of me.  Tickets I believe were 175 each.  I would only go again if I had seats in the lower bowl.  There was a pregame Michigan bar that had school buses back and forth and the wait was not long at all.  I wish I would have signed up for a tour of the stadium the day before though.

What made the "experience" not worth the price of the ticket was the final score and the absolute ass-kicking we took from Bama.  Not sure people would feel the same way about the experience if the final score of the game was reversed.

That game was the beginning of the end of the Hoke era.  Didnt know it at the time but it was literally allmost all downhill from there.

IF you have been to the stadium before, then I may not recommend going, but if you have never seen that stadium, it is worth going just to see that place - it is unreal.

I liked the game experience- we were in the middle section 30 yard line - I thought the site lines were great, but still an NFL atmosphere.

All that being said, I am not going this year, been there and done that.  A great one time experience IMHO.

I was considering going to that game against Alabama but decided tickets were more than I wanted to pay.  I was looking at Stubhub the week before the game, and as I recall, except for SRO tickets, the cheapest tickets were going for around $125.  There were the SRO tickets that were being sold for $50, but that was not at all appealing to me.  I have since been to a few games in that stadium (incluing Alamaba's beatdown of Sparty and Oklahoma State's game against FSU in 2014) and have to say the standing only is not that bad if you don't mind standing.  The vantage point is as good or better than at least some of the seats. I had seats for both of those games but walked around where the standing room was, and it wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

I already bought mine on ticketmaster.  paid $230 per for two in the second row of the upper deck in the SE corner.

I looked and the box office at AT&T stadium already has them available. Unless that was a glitch in the system.

Don't listen to naysayers. The trip is worth it.

Question to fans who went to the last game at Jerryworld. Obviously the outcome sucked, but how was the gameday experience? Was there tailgating? Did it feel like a UM game?

I know people who have gone to cowboy games there and basically say it has the personality of a hospital and you spend most of your time watching the screen and not the field. I'm not from the Dallas or Ann Arbor areas, so the choice is basically going to AA for a less high profile game before it gets too cold, or spending a holidays weekend in Dallas for this one.

I'd like to here feedback from people who have the previous experience.

Obviously the outcome sucked, but how was the gameday experience?

---> I thought it was cool - lots of fans of both teams, and the stadium is unreal...I found myself watching the screen some because it is so huge, but the field view was great (we were 30 yard line half way up IIRC).  I think it is a great one time experience.

Was there tailgating?

--------> Yes, but it was like tailgaiting on the sun - it was so hot it was miserable...many of us went into the stadium a few hours early just to get out of the oppressive heat.

Did it feel like a UM game?

----------> Not really, it is an NFL atmosphere, but lots of friendly Umich fans everywhere was pretty neat.

Summary: Go if you want something different and unique and to see the stadium.  Save your money and go to the big house (or happy valley) for a game if you want a cool/traditional college game day feel.

hope this helps

I met my brother (U of M class of '87) and his daughter who goes to Wisconsin here for the Cotton Bowl.  I stayed at the Hampton Inn, which is only a 30 minute walk to the stadium.  I highly recommend going.  We sat club level at the 20 yeard line and could see everything.  You are also only 20 minute drive to downtown Dallas, which has some cool places, such as Book Depository museum and Christies sports bar.

I will watch on TV. That's what ends up happening there anyway if you're not right on the field. Can eat, drink, and urinate without a long trip or line and see every play up close. If it was in AA then maybe but Jerry World, hell no.

We flew down and went to the Alabama game.  We bought out tickets outside of the stadium just as the game started - $100 per seat, 40 yard line, lower bowl and parking passes thrown in.

Positives:

- Jerry World is a Cathedral of Football.  Even if you don't like football it is worth checking out.

Negatives

- it was 21-0 by the time we parked, got through security and found our seats.  "SEC, SEC" chants for 3 quarters were not fun either.

- The big screen is so big it distracts you from watching the actual game.

I'm debating going this year.  Much of the allure was the novelty of seeing the stadium.

Getting punched in the dong by Eric Nystrom after telling him our last touchdown against Alabama was too little too late was not so much fun.  While still questioning the entire experience, he yelled, "don't you ever give up!"  I have taken that to heart.  Thanks Eric.

I have a buddy that lives outside of Dallas and have made the trip for a Detroit Tigers game, tour of the stadium, and even went to the 2013 NCAA tournament games (beating Kansas was amazing!) Ended up with great seats off a Kansas fan who just wanted something for the Elite 8 game.  I hope to get there to see the game and kick off 2017 with a victory!

Once for the Bama game and a couple weeks back for Lions vs Cowboys MNF.  The tailgating atmospheres for both games were pretty fun.  If you are going to tailgate, I would highly suggest arriving early in order to get a parking spot around the edges of the parking lots where there are trees.  The shade will make the difference between an enjoyable experience and a sweaty, miserable one.  When I went to the Michigan game, I just drove around until I found a large group of Michigan fans, and ended up having a great time tailgating with them.  Ironically, I plan on moving to Ann Arbor a couple months before the Florida game so I will probably miss it.

My thoughts kind of echo those of others here.  I went for the Bama game and the MSU bowl game.  The stadium is somewhat neat, but any relatively new pro stadium is pretty much interchangeable with any other.

Opening weekend is HOTTTT.  Tailgating is just not worth it and there isn't a whole lot within walking distance to do before the game.  The hour long line to get through security pressed up against 100s of other sweaty stinky people was not fun either.  For the UofM game we had upper deck seats in the corner and just spent the whole game watching the screen.  I mean I love technology, but a big ass tv is only interesting for so long.  For the MSU game we had club seats and that viewing expierence was obviously much better.  So, go for lower bowl.

With all that said I'll probably be going because we have Michigan Alum freinds in Dallas we don't get to see, and I love to be at games cheering on our boys.  (Don't get me started on the shitty showing of fans we had at Miami this year)

I'm going to try to make it if I can get an affordable flight.

I suppose I should start looking now. I'm very excited about next season and actually have never been to Dallas other than the airport on a connecting flight to LA.

The response was that after the PSD period is done, they'll be gearing up something along the lines of when the Wolverines last visited there - so it won't be until the Spring. No hint as to the packages or arrangements.

People who went last time would have greater insights about the timing and packages.

I'm considering making the trip from Northern California to see this game, but I think I would rather go to Michigan for The Game later in the season (especially if we're undefeated and/or have a shot at B1G Championship Game).

The packages were through the Alum Assn for the Alabama game. No you don't have to be a grad to join, but do have to be a member to get in on the packages.  They will probably have a trip going again.  There are two available 1) air & land from Detroit or 2) land only for those who live in the area or are coming from elsewhere.  Included hotel, game ticket, tailgate, welcome dinner and bus transportation to and from game and a souvenir gift bag with t-shirt, M cowboy hat, Michigan tumbler.  The trips are not cheap but they always do an excellent job. Always have an M-Den satellite in the hotel lobby. Sight seeing trips available at additional cost.

I haven't seen anything from them yet, but it is very early in the year. As others mentioned, the Alabama game was soooo hot that I can't recommend tailgating without a tent or some sort of shade. The Alum Assn  tailgate always has tents, cheerleaders, Marching Band members and some U of M speakers to get the crowd riled up before game time.

Also, get in line early. Security check was slower than TSA and many missed kick-off because it took so long. Interesting to note that at the Alabama game they constantly showed Saban on the Jumbotron...I don't remember seeing Brady Hoke even once. Not photogenic?
