Good one man.  North campus was always odd to me.  I was a freshman in 1999 and was one of maybe 20 Black people in Couzens.  I went up to Bursley and all of the other Black people were up there.  This was especially true of the kids from the Detroit public schools, I don't know if they all decided to put North Campus as their first choice for housing or what, but I never understood why anyone would want to live up there.

I lived in Bursley my freshman year (and actually liked it).  The reason I ended  up there was because I had never been to campus before starting and since I was studying engineering I figured I wanted to be as close as possible to the school.  Yeah, turns out first year you barely take classes there any ways, but whatever, it was nice, though I would not have minded living in central campus first year as well.

I got my masters at Vandy. It is a fine school. But as someone who is proud to be an alumnus of both schools, in my mind Vandy is not in the same league as U of M. (And I'm not talking about on the football field.)

I really like seeing UM so high, but the list is kinda BS and VERY UK biased. I've seen it before, it is really no better (which isn't saying much) than any of the other lists out there.

While the list is flawed, it also highlights some of the flaws associated with those lists put out by US News and the like, which seemingly give short shrift to larger universities with diverse programs instead of smaller schools with higher rejection numbers and more limited disciplines.  Having worked at some academic instutitions across America, the level of respect UM receives for its research and scholarly pursuits certainly puts it on level with the other "name" schools at the top of the list.
