UM at MSU noon kick on BTN
anyone else watching the Monday presser?
Boo!(not you the noon kick)
I actually like the noon kick off for this game.
It gives less time for the Sparties to drink and get rowdy. A night game would be more to worry about imo
+1 for you for making perfect sense!
Exactly what I was thinking. I'm surprised they were still able to put a game like this at noon (even with MSU having 2-3 losses coming in), but I'll gladly take it.
I'm surprised this is on the Big Ten Network. I think it should at least be on ESPN.
Dan LeFevour disagrees.
Eff the BTN and the cable companies! I live in New Orleans and the BTN is not part of cable packages in these parts. To make it worse I'll be out of town that weekend in Florida and hoped that I would be able to catch the game on ESPN/2 or ABC, but now that looks to be out of the question. So now I'm pretty much screwed. When I emailed B10 about coverage in my area they told me to get satellite, thanks BTN!
That's the same for me. The only way to get the Big Ten Network is by going with DirecTV (which I have had for 5 years). Our cable company and Dish network do not offer the Big Ten Network here.
but they'll make you buy the sports package to get it unless you're in a big ten state in which it's part of the Silver package . That being said UVerse and DirecTV offer it to everyone without having to get a sports package.
What cable system do you have? The BTN is on Comcast, TWC, Cablevision. If you have any of those, you could pay for the BTN on the digital (or sometimes Sports tier).
Not Mike Cox cable apparently.
I thought Michigan had 3 BTN games. That would be Eastern, Delaware State, and (Purdue, I would think > MSU).
Does MSU on the BTN mean that aside from the Delaware State game, others will be on ABC/ ESPN2 or am I wrong about the 3 game limit on the BTN?
it was a 3 game minimum on BTN not a limit. But then again I could be wrong.
Actually, I think it's a three drink minimum.
While I like later games, I agree in theory that a noon kick is beneficial for us.....an evening/late afternoon game would be tough in EL, especially for our young team.
Hopefully MSU loses next week to Wisconsin and are so down from being winless this season that they won't be able to make it up for a noon kick.
I like our chances better now.
Don't forget about that great victory over Montana State!
Do we know where Indiana is televised yet?
The Indiana game is on ESPN2
which is strange, since the MSU game should be a bigger game and on ABC/ ESPN2
UM/Indiana is on ESPN2.
Edit: Looks like I was beaten to the punch.
National broadcast on ESPN2.
I HEARD A RUMOR IT WAS ON ESPN2 WITH A GENDER CONFUSED PERSON. CONFIRM/DENY?
this is a shocker. I figured this would be a 330 start on abc or espn.
I love when Sparty loses, but when they do it takes some of the luster off any national relevance the game might have had. If MSU beat ND and Central, the game probably would have been on ABC.

Will be driving north on our way to Mackinac - was hoping for 3:30 cause there's no way I'm going to make it to the island for a noon start.
Non-football spouse will object to listening to it on the radio (Don't ask me to give him up, he's a keeper.) Could maybe stream it on my phone if anyone knows what site. Mgoblue I can't use as it appears to require Windows Media Player.
"non football spouse" is a HE??
Does "he" do all the interior decorating? Srsly, a guy who doesn't like football?
I wonder, in those types of homes, does "he" make you suffer through bad movies on Lifetime or force you to watch something like "Happy Feet Meets The Ice Capades" on Sundays?
Non Football spouse is a he?
I'm not asking you to give him up, but make sure to note what drink he orders at the bar next time you're there.
If it's a glass of wine, dump him.....make sure it comes in an ice cold mug and is has "ice" or "-weiser" at the end.
As a fellow Michigan fan, I must advise you correctly. No man should shub football
I was hoping to get in 18 holes of golf before the game.
How are football games selected by the networks?
The games held the first few weeks of the season, as well as selected games later in the season, are picked prior to July 1. As the season goes on, ABC, ESPN and BTN will select their televised games under a rotation where half the time BTN gets the second selection and ESPN gets the third selection. ABC will always get the choice for the first game televised per week under either a twelve or six day window. After that, either ESPN or the BTN get the second pick.
I bet BTN got 2nd selection for the October 3rd games. They love sticking it to fans, hoping that it will create angry fans who will call their local cable company and request BTN in their area. I request and requent and request, so far nothing . . .
So I am to believe by the programming schedule that the IU game is of more significance to the region than the MSU game? Isn't the IU game being broadcast on ESPN 2? Now don't get me wrong, any Big 10 game is not to be overlooked but it would seem as if the programming is backwards IMO.
Fuck Charter cable in Kzoo.
not going to listen to Frank Beckmann call the game?
Tell your "hubby" wear some ear plugs.
or use an ipod w/radio and headphones/buds.
EDIT: sorry, I was responding to NotYOURMom
How does a U-M grad/fan end up with a husband who 1) isn't a fan and 2) has no tolerance for football?
I feel so bad for you (i.e., her). Clearly, you (she) overlooked thousands of gents on this board without that unfortunate affliction!
This could not be better.
Noon kickoff will most likely help me stay out of jail this year, something I will be looking forward to.
its fiting that its on BTN. I think the majority of the population doesnt think there is much of a rival there and only solidifies the idea that MSU could care less about the outcome of their season as long as they beat UofM.
sparty idiots to get liquored up. Noon kick in East Lansing is always fine with me.
So what game is ESPN picking up instead?
If MSU would have done its part and won the games they played in this would be a 3:30 start. Now, it is a 4-0 MICHIGAN going up to play a msu team with 1-2 wins.
This is a classic in state rivalry and ESPN or ESNP2 isn't going to have coverage on it?! WTF
