Poster on USCHO saying outdoor game between Michigan vs. Ohio State at Progressive Field in Cleveland could be announced soon.

Mod Edit: I had to add hockey. I almost made a mess when I saw the thread title. [zl]

slippery slope effect

outdoor games seem to become more and more prevalent - a yearly thing now though?

i mean i enjoyed the big chill and loved watching the cold war at MSU - but i'm going to be upset if it becomes a yearly thing or even more prevalent

edit : don't get me wrong i'm still probably going to go to this game

but I'm too busy laughing my ass of at the overwhelming lack of testes in Columbus. Why are they not having this game in the horseshoe? Are they afraid it won't sell out? Are they afraid it will sell out, but to an overwhelmingly Michigan crowd? Are they afraid of inviting throngs of Maize and Blue taunters into columbus so soon after Tresselgate? Are they afraid of losing at home? Why in the world would they play Michigan at a neutral venue that seats about half the people their proud home stadium the armpit would?

Outdoor hockey games are awesome, and should be a yearly thing. There is nothing better then playing some puck on a pond somewhere. Obviously this isn't a pond, but you know what I'm saying. I'm sure the players would love to play one every year.

I guess I don't mind it being played more often as long as it is played in different venues.  A yearly match between M and ____ at the Big House would get stale really quickly.

OSU doesn't exactly have a stellar hockey team, though.  Seems like they're banking more on the names than the teams.

They may be giving hockey fans in Cleveland too much credit.  The only way they'll fill the place up is if they sell beer and fans make a party of it.

Personally I hope it happens since I live in Cleveland.  But this thing has the potential to flop on its face by either no one showing up or drunken mayhem.

Agreed definitely include hockey in the title. When i seen the title, I said first they want to move Michigan and Ohio State from being last game of the season and now this? What's next? Little Brother becomes our new biggest rival? Thankfully it's hockey and not football.

You scared me to death with that title.

I approve of any and all outdoor hockey games. I especially approve of ones I can probably make it to in enemy territory and rub it into the Bucknuts faces when we beat them to a pulp in their own outdoor game.

Ice in it's natural environment is outside. Therefore, hockey was first played outside. This is the natural habitat of hockey.Let hockey run free.

i think every year would be great.  i went to the nhl showcase at wrigley and would love to see an annual game there.

will continue to be a big event until the first one is canceled due to rain or warm weather and can't be re-scheduled causing someone to lose a lot of money.  Then and only then will they start to rethink the frequency of such events.
