UM has four teams it faces ranked in new Top 25

MSU up to number four, almost number 3. Ohio State is the clear number 1. BYU and Northwestern are 19 and 23 respectively. As for teams already played, Utah is number 21. Thank god those four games are at home.

We were also a late, prevent defense TD away from losing by double digits. And even so, a team thats best result is almost not losing to the 21st ranked team should not be getting votes, especially since it's not like we have a great resume to build off from last year.

The only point on the resume that matters is Harbaugh!

But honestly, who cares about last year?  Last year's Oregon team was a national runner-up; right now they are looking down 2-3 losses unless Adams really did just have a bad finger injury and the defense makes strides forward.

And I hate this argument about it being a prevent D TD - Utah sure seemed like it was trying to stop UM, blitzing and generally playing the same defense we saw all game.  This wasn't a UM team down 20; UM scored in 2 minutes and, had they gotten the onside kick, would have had some time to go in for the tying score.  UM was moving the ball that second half reasonably well; even that pick-6 was on a drive that was picking up decent yardage.  Utah is a top-25 team, but considering that was the first game for a team with a new coach, on the road, against a veteran team with top-25-ish talent, it wasn't nearly the crapshow some people are trying to make it out to be.

I agree with all things considered (new coach, New qb, on the road, etc.) that the Utah game wasn't the crapshow that some people make it out to be, but I don't see it as the nail-biter you described either. In my opinion, you have to have the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead to say it went down to the very end.

I'm not sure what you mean by hating the argument that it was a prevent D TD.  1- It was a prevent defense td and  2- what's wrong with that?

Prevent doesn't mean the defense stops trying, it just means they are playing back in the secondary and preventing any big plays down the field.  Our offense did exactly what it was supposed to do by taking what the defense gave us and went right down the field. I don't see the shame in that.

Actually I think Oregon will end up with at least 9 wins, that offense is only going to get better as Adams becomes more comfortable. The Oregon team MSU played may of won 7 games, but they will improve, which will boost MSU resume more than it should if oyu looked at that game objectively.

played that well honestly, Utah had a couple stupid personal fouls that kept Michigan drives alive and lead to points and the Utes missed a couple of field goals. Utah didn't look great versus Utah State this weekend, although losing Wilson was a big part of that.

already tired of the talking heads going back to the "big ten sucks" well. State beat Oregon. Northwestern beat Stanford. Yeah, Bama rolled but they are f-ing Bama and that wasn't a vintage Wisconsin team. Funny to me that Bielema was talking shit about Ohio States schedule and then they lose to Toledo. Also, good showing by Auburn yesterday..... The SEC is coming back to the back and ESPN is panicking.

I'd love to see a B1G/SEC challenge in September.  We could compare conferences and it would probably shut ND out of both conferences' schedules.  All except Purdue probably, but no one cares about that "rivalry" anyway.

Gotta love the sensationalists in the media.

Northwestern beat a Stanford team coached by a moron who punts from the opponent's 30 and an FCS team.

BYU is a solid team, but I don't think they should be ranked. They've suffered multiple injuries in their two games.

Without two desperation heaves by their backup QB, they're 0-2. We'll learn a lot about them when they play UCLA on Saturday.

UCF, a team who lost to FIU 15-14 last week. Very impressive.

He is not a good offensive coach. At all. As evidenced by the punting inside the opponent's 40 and his bonehead playcalling in their most recent Rose Bowl.

The Harbaugh magic has dried up at Stanford.

I didn't realize the definition of moron was "guy who fucked up at work that one time" or "not Jim Harbaugh". Since I fit both of those criteria, I hope those of you who don't (and thus aren't morons) can figure out a way to ask Harbaugh why he not only employed but sought a promotion for a moron.

Harbaugh wouldn't have punted inside the 40.

Once Shaw got control of the team, it became his choice. He may have been a good OC when he had his ideas filtered via Harbaugh who ultimately has the final say.

Stanford didn't really have much choice in terms of a successor. Fangio followed Harbaugh to the NFL and it was either have an in-house replacement and prevent players from leaving a loaded team or make a complete coaching change and risk historic success that Stanford was having.

Notice I've never once engaged on the merits of punting. Both comments were attempts to say people should slow their roll with these broad labels, especially those of us worshiping Harbaugh.

If Shaw is a moron, the vast majority of people on this board and their loved ones are worse than morons. I thought my last comment made that position clear, but maybe not.

I'm just talking football.

I don't know the guy and he obviously isn't literally a moron if he's a millionaire football coach and I am some guy on the internet.

I, along with many, think his playcalling sucks. That's my point. Maybe moron isn't the right word.

(I didn't neg you, btw)

*negs self for mentioning points*

<soapbox>People are way too concerned about negging. I realize it's different for a non-mod with not many points, but none of the regulars should be too concerned. Getting negged isn't going to affect your ability to make a thread or vote when you want to, and for LSA and I it wouldn't change that even if someone with your total spent enough to get us below zero.</soapbox>

I will now neg my post and yours because rule one.
