I believe it's the 10th of Aug, but the team reports a few days before that.
10 AUG
Do freshman report early to practice?
NO ONE reports early to practice...
Stretching only
Isn't that an NCAA violation according to the fish wrapper FP.
eligible to start practice? I understand from the orginal post the SEC has already started. Does each conference set their own rules for this or does the NCAA mandate it? This could be quite an advantage for the SEC or any other conference. If Michigan could have started already why haven't they? Also, if they wanted to start on August 10 couldn't they have said to the NCAA "look we wanted to start on __/__/2010 but we're starting August 10th instead, so here are x amount of hours back".
It's not a daily count but a session count. You're allowed to have a set number of practice sessions before the season officially starts. Michigan will start August 10th, and we'll have a bunch of two-a-days. Teams in the SEC that have already started won't have as many (or any) two-a-day practices.
Michigan will start later than most because of the 2-1 hours we have to give back in practice overages.
...Aug 10. Earlier, I predicted Aug 9 by following the NCAA Manual's rules on fall practice here -- but I didn't take into account the reduced practice hours penalty Michigan self-imposed for practicegate.
I'm gonna take the lazy route on this one first, but does anyone know if there are open practices in fall camp?
that they're all closed, because that's when they'll be adding plays to the offense, and so on, and of course the staff doesn't want anyone scouting their tricks.
The blue tarp that covered the fence around the practice field has been removed, and there is nothing stopping you from watching practice. And, of course, with the largest amount of indoor training space of any football team (professional or collegiate) on the planet, they can keep the secret stuff away from prying eyes
