Hey i live in York Pennsylvania and i was wondering if there were any other Michigan fans in Pennsylvania. It would be nice to have some other Michigan fans close by. All i get is Penn Staters telling me that they will beat us 9 in a row. GO BLUE
UM Fans in Pennsylvania
I'm in Lancaster (not too far from you).
im the one with the maize and checkered pants and thebeanie that the ladys all like.
Nope. No Michigan fans in PA. Best of luck to you.
Beat me to it :)
Consider yourself lucky...being stuck in Erie I get half Penn State, half Ohio State. It's hell to try and watch a game at the bar wearing a Michigan jersey.
(To answer your question, YES, but not close to York)
Aren't they only at two in a row, now?
Welcome to MGOBlog, BTW! Enjoy responsibly!
Another fan in Lancaster? I thought I was the only one who would be here and checking this site out...Would be great to watch with some true fans!!
hey cheesmo.. i would be open to watching some Michigan games in the future.
Count me in. (Assuming my wife's residency schedule cooperates.)
I'm in Hanover, kiddies.
A "Blue" State for generations.
They think they're going to win 9 in a row? They obviously haven't been checking the Class of 2015 recruiting boards lately. I remember back in '97, I knew for sure that we were going to win 9 in a row on them.
There are Michigan fans everywhere. I lived in Philly for a year and came across a good amount of fans. Some of them may have been tourists but I was actually surprised at how many people I saw in M gear. They aren't really Penn State fans in Philly though because of temple, st joe's and villanova so that could be the difference.
Michigan fan holding strong in Philly...originally from NE Ohio however. Bowling Green grad. I'm just the worst kind of person aren't I?
I live in York too. Penn St fans everywhere and enough OSU fans to make it Ohio-lite. Glad to hear that there is at least one other Wolverines fan around.
UM class of 05. There are plenty of us here just have to sort through the PSU , ND crap to find us.
But come Sept 15th I'm moving back to Florida so that leaves 8 of you to hold down the fort here in PA.
I'm in Manayunk too. Manayunk Ave actually...Actually I've run into more Pitt kids than actual Penn State fans.
If you see a black VW Gti with Florida plates and a Michigan alumni plate around it that's me.lol
If your down for watching the ND game let me know ?I will probably go down to main st to watch or Union Jacks over on Umbria.
I just moved to the area. I'm on St. Davids St. I'm headed to the opener against UConn.
I'm on the other side of your st, Mansion middle of the st. There is a Sparty on my st Black Ford Focus with a MSU plate. Maybe we can gang up on him? Did you just move in?
Just outside of Youngstown, OH, there's a pretty good Michigan following there too. A lot of that has to do with Marlin Jackson coming out of there, and the fact that we recruit the Youngstown area pretty well.
Her dad went to PSU and her brother David Stein played for New Wilmington. Went to CM for football in the Burgh.
The name actually sounds familiar, what year did he graduate? We had quite a few showdowns with New Wilmington back in the day.
He played oline & Dline for them. I also recall my old high school( when I was in Junior High) played Sharon for the state title. Dallas. I'm usually in that area every few months with my Fiancé since her parents are still there.
I graduated from Sharon in '01 with Marlin (played corner opposite him, for some reason teams tended to pick on me a lot, never figured out why). Wilmington knocked us off my freshman year when we were ranked #1 in the state all year long...I'm still bitter.
The Fox and Hound in center city is actually a Michigan bar. I went down there for a couple of games last year. They have a big section reserved for Michigan fans and alumni and get some good crowds especially for the big games.
I'm pretty active in the Philly Alumni Association and we decided we're not going to do Fox and Hound anymore. We've had a few conflicts with their management and generally don't feel like they cared enough. So we've chosen Q's BBQ in Old City on Chestnut between 2nd and 3rd. They're committed to being a dedicated Michigan bar and we'll never be competing with other events or background music. I think they'll offer us a pretty solid setup overall. Plus better drink and food prices. If you want more info and/or want to be included on our distribution list, email [email protected] and say as much. Tell your friends!
In case you're new to the internet, typing in all caps means you're yelling. I don't want people yelling at me, especially when I'm just trying to read my favorite blog.
As for the topic, I'm in MI so I can't help you.
Harrisburg here. I know of a few other UM fans in town as well.
to a fellow UM fan on the Susquehanna.
The closest major city is Philly. So I half qualify.
I grew up in Ohio but maybe 30 min from Pittsburgh. I lived there right around the time PSU was joining the B10 and was told countless times how PSU would dominate.
It was pretty rough being a non-Steeler and a UM fan.
Out with it.
I'm working on moving down to Philly myself. I've been to Fox and Hound. Had a pretty good time, so check (checks map) oh, York is far away. Nevermind.
On that note, anyone have a job for a researcher/coordinator in the Philly area?
Thanks for the help man. I'll make sure to get on the mailing list.
I'm in Pittsburgh, and I actually don't know of any other Michigan fans here - it's pretty sad. All Ohio State, Pitt, and Penn State fans. I do know there is a very large contingent in Philadelphia though. The Alumni Association rents out space in a bar every Saturday in downtown Philly for people to come and watch the game.
You are missing out. As a fellow Burgh resident, there are quite a few of us Michigan alums in the city. The alumni association in this area closed down a while back (apparently) which doesn't make much sense to me considering all the folks I know around here.
Is there any bar around town that people regularly meet up in to watch the game? I'd love to go out and be social instead of staring at my crappy little tv at home, but I'm always worried whatever bar I go to won't have the game on because no one's interested in it.
Steel city ftw
NO! PENNSYLVANIA HAS NO MICHIGAN FANS!
Wait. What the hell? 9 in a row? The chances of that happening are incredibly slim.
Pottsville, PA here and I plan on making the trip to State College this year with 3 other UM fans as well!!
No kidding-- I worked for several years on Mahantongo.
Wyomissing, PA here, believe I'm the only Blue fan in the area.
Not a nun, a Mich football fan. Only been there two years and doesn't know other Michiganders there.
I live in Moosic, its the town next to Scranton. Lots of PSU and ND scum here, a very small following of Michigan fans here
I grew up in NEPA as well. My mother lives in Old Forge. So if you ever see a blonde hair women around with a Michigan Business shirt thats my mom. She loves to wear that out.
I grew up down 81 from you in Dallas, PA outside of Wilkes-Barre. I think we can count how many Michigan fans in NEPA on two hands. But with Big Uglys now closed that sucks as it was the only Michigan bar there.
Pittsburgher here. I know a handful of Michigan grads that I work with, but we're overwhelmed by the Penn State and Pitt grads. There seem to be a fair number of OSU fans, but that's because Pittsburgh residents are, in general, bandwagoners of the highest degree (except for the Steelers - they always have delusions of grandeur, myself included).
Pittsburgh residents are, in general, bandwagoners of the highest degree
I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and my work has taken me all over the country. Although I have no allegiance to any Pittsburgh teams, I would say that Pittsburghs fans are some of the most loyal I have seen. The Steelers and Penguins are religions and I have a hard time believing that anyone that has been there would argue that point, furthermore, despite 20 years of misery the Bucs still have a pretty good following. Keep in mind that this is also a city that could really care less about college athletics when you get down to it.
I just moved to Philly fresh from AA, to Northern Liberties to be exact. I'll definitely be heading down to Q's to watch football games though.
I live in Conshohocken, so I'll be heading to Q's this fall to watch the games.
Manayunk here. I will be at Q's for the ND game.
Its good to see more fans from york on here. Its all about Penn St and maybe alil Suckeye St in york and at my job
