UM Crystal Balz for Shanon Reid OLB
Wiltfong just predicted Shanon Reid to UM. He looks like a LB/S hybrid with the speed to fit the Peppers role in the Don Brown Defense.

Really excited to see what new recruits come onto Michigan's board as the high school season continues to progress. Hopefully they can uncover another (or maybe more!) Hudson over the coming months.

It does look like he has some good speed. I was thinking at first that he was still accelerating in a lot of plays when he made contact, but I think he's got a long stride and gets up to speed quickly. He looks like he tackles well also, taking out the legs and not trying to arm tackle players. At least in his highlights.

....even Spiderman doesn't have the same athleticism!

He looked like he would be an excellent guard in BB if he were two inches taller, He seemed to be raw with the way he tackled by throwing RB's by their shirts, he did tackle some by the legs as mentioned above but I thought that was the exception not the rule. He is a three star who likes Mississippi State but if he gets on Michigans campus it's over for them.

The film quality isn't better, but the coaches do usually get full game film instead of just a few minutes of highlights.

at all in how we stand for Browning and other top LB prospects or do the coaches really like this kid that much?

The all knowing and worshipped Magnus! I don't have the time and haven't much to go off of but I'd take my gut feeling over yours any day. Browning likes Michigan and they've been courting him for months.

it seems like he's a bit underscouted due to size. I mean, if hes listed as an OLB, 6'1 195 ain't huge. I have a feeling those other services are going to catch up soon.

The guy's star/guru rating is highly incongruent with his offer list. Offers from Florida State, Miami, and Clemson, but he is a 2* on rivals.

I don't see offer from Clemson or Florida State

I thought they were recruiting Markquese Bell for that spot. Does this mean Don Brown likes him better, he's not as interested as most think, or they want to take both?
September 27th, 2016 at 7:29 PM ^
If this guy is a take and Bell wants to join, I don't really see how you turn him away.

I've read about questions regarding how hard they will pursue Bell, but they also just like Reid and would take him now.
September 27th, 2016 at 9:58 PM ^
I don't think they necessarily like Reid better. He's just a different option. The coaches have been after Bell for longer, so they appear to want him more. Bell could actually play WR, S, or LB at the next level, so he's a more versatile option. Reid is probably a LB only, though he might be able to play a couple LB positions (SAM or WILL).

Great reads. Good angles. Decent speed. Loves contact and can tackle. Will be a good at football.
September 27th, 2016 at 10:25 PM ^
Wow he has a great frame, is very athletic and can lay the wood too. I notice his football instincts and vision to see the play before it happens. 5 star kid.
Michigan needs some athletic LBs. Seems like OSU always has them.

Was he on our radar? I don't recall his name much.
