UM Controlled Parking Lots Opening at Noon for ND Game
I was told that Golf and Outing will also open at noon.
Any word on when Pioneer will open (particularly for RVs)?
They made the same declaration for the first UTL. I'm positive that Pioneer was open at the normal time and pretty certain the golf course was as well.
Yeah I know I was driving down to that meijer early in the 2011 season and got into a huge jam with RVs going into pioneer. and it had to have been the UTL game unless it was the opener (it wasn't, too many people). Cool story, I know, but I can corroborate.
I went to UTL 1 and my parents always have an RV at the high school the night before. I drive down in the AM and was down there by 10:30 am to tailgate. Planning to do the same this year.
I planned to be at pioneer at 11 am 2 years ago for the last go around. If it wasn't for some nice people opening up their yards, my friends and I would gave been shut out. Ill be at pioneer at 8 am as it was full by 11 am last time.
I've got parking for any mgoparker just let me know. I open as early as you like and its across from pioneer. If this is a violation to mention please delete.
Thanks for the info. I thought I'd jump on here & get some general opinions for the tailgating. (Anyone who was at UTL 1 would be ideal). We're thinking the golf course but I don't think we'll be there at noon. What would be the "must be there by" time in everyone's opinion? (alternate location suggestions are also welcome). Also, we won't have a dish so those in our crew without tickets are thinking of watching via the Gameday big screen. Thoughts? Thanks.
Not too sure if this post should go here but oh well, I'm new to mgoblog, but before the game on Saturday me and a friend were just walking around for about 3 hours trying to find something to do. We will be attending the UTL2 this weekend and would like to know of any ideas on what to do beforehand. Thanks!
So basically no one who plans to park a car can go to Gameday.
And if this is anything like the anal cluster that UTL1 was at around 11:55 AM, brace yourselves. Had a cop slap our car and give me the finger on the way into the Blue Lot. Things got real tense, to say the least.
Always park at Pioneer and was told they"ll be opening up like normal so I plan on being there at 8am
Be prepared to be shut out for about four hours, then. This is exactly what happened at UTL1. Pioneer said they'd be opening up early, but the University announced (in conjunction with the AAPD/UM Public Safety) that all lots, including Pioneer and the Golf Course, would open at noon.
For UTL 1 got in Pioneer at 8:30am without an issue.
We usually park at the golf course off State St. Are you still not allowed to have your vehicle parked in the center turn lane waiting for the lot to open? I know a couple of years ago they banned that, wasn't sure if it was still that way. I know people stage their vehicles in nearby lots waiting to get in line
they announced the same thing for UTL 1. So, we left my house at noon thinking we'd be ok. What is normally a 20 minute drive, took about an hour and a half... We usually park at Pioneer. We ended up making it all the way down to Briarwood before coming back down State, and finally found a spot at Cliff Keen. The game was the best sporting event I've ever attended, but the whole parking situation really put a damper on the day. Why do they insist on creating this cluster? Why not just open at the normal time? Much less.... Cluster!
UTL1 was screwed by all the rain. AAGO and the golf course were closed. We got to Pioneer at about 10:30 and got right in. Half of the grass lot at pioneer was closed because it was a mud pit. So two huge lots were closed and one could only use half of its spots last time. As long as it doesnt rain all week long this time will be alot better.
I have parked in the same spot for over 25 years and the UTL 1 game was the only time I had to wander to find something else. Seems like ZB75 is the only other one who remembers that the rain closed the golf course and that caused a crazy chain of scrambling. As long as the rain stays away the parking will be no problem. I can't wait to destroy Dame and send them off to the horrible ACC where their strength of schedule will go to die.
staying at the ypsi campground but want to tailgate on the GC. What time do you think we should leave to get in line to get a spot? Thanks fellas
Does anyone know if I can get away with parking my SUV at pioneer the night before and just walking to it when Pioneer opens so I don't have to wait in line/pay?
