https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_(given_name)

Nico is the given name, and is also used as a shortened form of the name Nicholas (particularly in Italian, Spanish and French, but also occasionally in English), Domenico and Dominic. It means Victorious People.

And famous female Nicos are so rare, they even had the entry for the aforementioned singer Nico. The other 22 entries for real people are for men.

I was at a Tigers game in the early 90's.  We were sitting right behind home, and I was a bit mouthy as a 20 year old.  Anyway, Sandy Alomar comes up to bat and I yell out: "Sandy's a girl's name!!!!"  He proceeds to hit a home run.

Also, Nico is totally a boy name.  Sorry hatter.

Okay, so I'm sure you're just making a joke, but this got me thinking... Honest question: has a woman ever hit a home run in an MLB park (or something of an equivalent size) ?

I can't find an answer to this anywhere online. The shortest distance to the wall in an MLB park is 310 feet, but that wall is also 37 feet high.

I found a video of a woman hitting a 300 ft home run on youtube, and it was implied that's a big deal. I can't find any other info anywhere.

If I recall, I believe his full name is Santos Alomar Velazquez, Jr., so if that fan had done their homework, perhaps you would have been spared the experience, although Alomar probably would have hit that home run regardless and shut them up for another reason. Such is the life of fans of all teams.

I remember people making jokes about "Candy" Maldonado too, but then when you find out his first name is "Candido", the jokes seem to lose a bit of luster. It's that name that comes after Maldonado - Guadarrama - that is actually more interesting. What is a Guadarrama? No idea.
