I'm sure they were going to do this anyway, right?
U-M to hold walk-on tryouts 9/13
What if I didn't play in high-school? Can I still try out?
I think Brian should try out.
Yes! Then we'd REALLY have an insider's perspective.
Right now I am picturing Rosenberg with fake dreads and an Under Armour shirt struggling to do a push-up, all so he can try to become part of the team and do the ultimate undercover reporting.
He would be required to work excessive hours in the weight room. That would kill him.
I'd bet he would have tape his own ankles.
Hahaha such a great image
How quickly do you think I could get admittance so I can tryout?
If you run fast and have ever played defensive back at any level of competitive American football, you will make the team.
They should raid the track team.
This is not for the faint of heart. The practice will be divided into two parts - an athleticism test, and a skills test. Both are intense but neither are grueling. Then they will run you. You will be timed in the dash. Then there are weed-outs - wind sprints. THIS part is grueling.
you try out, or know someone that did???
secondary members, people. Don't be ridiculous.
We have a whole team full of highly skilled football playing athletes. Pretty much any of them that aren't a 300 lbs lineman are going to be a better safety, at least as far as this season is concerned, than Joe Nobody pulled in off the street. This, like any other walk on tryout, is to see if there's anyone that got overlooked because they played for a small school or whatever.
Jordan Kovacs disagrees, sir.
I'm going to need some dreadlocks. How long does it take to grow dreads?
...5 minutes online:
sundry other acronyms, I seldom actually laugh out loud at my desk. This was funny enough that I did. Fortunately, I did not snort coffee all over the keyboard, because my Keyboard Kondom was not installed.
the history, RR was a WO at WV and this is a serious part of his program. Not every WO is a bust. Some make good tackling dummies while others will be playing on the green team this week. Some special WOs are making a fine contribution to the Michigan Football Program and earn their scollies.
get Mark Wahlberg on the phone
They may find the next Doyle McPoyle... you never know.
Do you think that Greg Robinson could create a "String Bean" position in his secondary for 6'1" 160-lb twigs with little-to-no athletic ability? I would be interested
A 23 year old, 5'11" 190lb, hockey goalie who was recruited by his high school coach to play safety and who has never liked running or played padded football... but was a 3 time Flag Champ at Michigan? (at D line and O line...)
Cuz um... I could play that
Hopefully there are some diamonds in the rough out there. Getting some added depth in the secondary is something this team needs. Walk-on or not there are contributers out there.
Didn't we get a three-star WR to walk on over the offseason? Has he played defensive back?
has hands of velcro glue, but lead feet.
Will they be Barwiss'd by Saturday?
I'm surprised we do this after the season starts. (This was also the case last year.)
