U of M Field Hockey at NF Walk Monroe

Submitted by Blazefire on

I just wanted to mention that I ran into several members of UM's field hockey team, though I'd be hard pressed to remember just who from the roster pages. I'm bad with names and faces.

The girls were at Sterling State Park in Monroe, MI to take part in a charity walk raising funds for Neurofibromatosis research. My understanding was that only one of them was related to somebody with NF, and a distant relation at that, but five or six of them had chosen to come out and walk to support research. They were very polite and fine representatives of the university. We should all be proud.

On a depressing note, I said to myself, "These girls are in college?! Holy crap, how old am I?" Yeah... I'm old.

UM student-athletes and coaches are well-involved in the community.  The longstanding support Lloyd Carr has given to Mott's Children's Hospital is an outstanding example, and players visit patients in the hospital regularly.
