U-M dominates US Ice Dancing Championship
Might not be big news on a busier day, but U-M was again well represented at the Ice Dancing Championships today. U-M's own Meryl Davis and Charlie White won their 4th consecutive title. Maia and Alex Shibutani were runner up again, with Alex as U-M currently, and his sister at Huron high. Third place was Madison Hubbell and Zackary Donohue, not with any U-M ties I can find, but from Michigan proper. And out of the medal hunt but in 4th was Lynn Kriengkrairut and Logan Giulietti-Schmitt. Lynn is premed at U-M (and pretty damn cute), and Logan is an Eastern Michigan grad, so Washtenaw County represent!
Always good to see Michigan people do well, and the Detroit-Canton-Ann Arbor chain is owning American Ice Dancing right now it seems. Congrats to all of them, and Go Blue!

The expression of pure pain on the faces of those band members just makes me smile inside.

Always a great day when Michigan wins a championship.

because of the Michigan Mafia, I didn't know it was on until it was over! Any postings of replay schedules or video links would be appreciated. (Channel 4.4, formerly Universal Sports, seems to have disappeared. They often had replays.)

I got back from shopping and as I was putting the groceries away turned on the tv and lucked out that it was on NBC and our champs were about to start their program, and the rest followed up. The most I had caught was that the regular skating was on tonight and ABC had counter programmed with Blades of Glory.

I would guess being on NBC Hulu might have a replay of it. Maybe NBC Sports on the web, or highlights from the US Figure Skating site, though I haven't checked.

Skaters work as hard any athlete out there. Good for Meryl and Charlie. Just another example of Michigan's incredible diversity in so many different arenas.
Go Blue!

Care to tell us why you negged an article about University of Michigan athletes who have excelled in national competition?
January 28th, 2012 at 8:54 PM ^
I'll gladly take an imaginary point hit to highlight really hardworking athletes (and from everyone who knows them that have ever posted on here, really nice people) who are bringing great acclaim to our University with their accomplishments. And I'll be rooting for them. My only regret is the Winter Olympics are still do far away.

I can't believe this shit still bothers you. Especially when several people have pointed out that they neg things just to get this exact reaction out of people. Posbangs/Negbangs haven't even counted in ages.

I had no idea Ice Dancing was a sport, but I will say this. There's plenty of people on this very board, who have supported this very post, who have bitched and complained about PSDs and the cost of tickets for the Cowboys Classic. Well, activities like Ice Dancing are the reason football prices keep going north. You better not post another word complaining about this fact. I'm just excited about the prospects of competing in Club Gift Wrapping and Men's Varsity Nail Polish Design. Go Blue!

Who has managed to skirt around the rules just enough to hang around...but really, what does Ice Dancing have to do with the price of tickets in ...Ann Arbor? You can't be that stupid, can you? Nevermind, I think you've already answerd that many times...

I'm not sure that you can call a supporter of Michigan Athletics a troll because he spends most of his time making money, helping others to live longer, and supporting the university of Michigan, but, anyone who has 30,000 mgopoints is certainly more enlightened and informed than I apparently am. I only wish I had as much time on my hands as you do to waste.
