University of Michigan Coaches Brady Hoke (football), John Beilein (basketball), and Red Berenson (hockey) along with Steve Grafton, President of the Alumni Association, will attend an alumni reception to help raise money for our D.C. area students attending the University of Michigan.  The University of Michigan Club of Washington D.C. invites alumni and friends of the University to attend this event.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 12 at The Artisphere, located at 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA, near the Rosslyn metro station (Blue/Orange line) and street/garage is free.

The price includes one alcoholic beverage and food selections (vegetarian options available).

Contact Cortney Robinson at [email protected] if you have any questions.

I attended the version of this that was held in 2009 and it was very well done. The coaches are extremely open during the pre-program mingling period for conversation and photos. RichRod was the biggest draw so it was very easy to sidle up to Red and Beilein and converse. I imagine the same dynamic will play out with Brady Hoke.

There's ample opportunity to bid on and win signed shirts, equipment and the like with proceeds going to the U-M Club of Washington's Scholarship Fund. Bring your checkbook and credit cards.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend as I'll be in A2 that day and the following week.

Free food and drinks (included with your $30 ticket, ahem)!  If anyone has a problem with the menu, blame me - I was present for the menu tasting and selection at the Artisphere last night.  Buy your tickets now!!  OP was right - the event in 2009 was a blast with tons of accessibility to the coaches.  Current ticket quota is 300, so there won't be too too many people and you'll be able to talk to the coaches pretty easily.

I'm on the board of the Central Ohio UM Alumni Association and we're trying to put together a similar event, but won't be able to get the big guns to come down for ours since C-bus is a lot smaller than DC and Boston.

Hope it goes well!

I couldn't make it a couple years ago when Rodriguez, Berenson and Beilein showed up to DC (stupid working nights with different days off). Now that I have a normal life and work schedule (i.e. not working weekend days/nights), I can look forward to this.

I want to buy two for my dad, who is an alumn. I am not, though, nor do I have any of his log-in information (he may not even have an account). Can I sign up under the friend account and still get equal access?

Not sure what you mean by the friend account, but non-members can get tickets for $45.  I should also say that tickets will be available at the door if you don't want to pre-order online.  I doubt they'll turn people away, especially since the money goes to our scholarship fund.
