Typical MSM...
So the good news is that ESPN.com has a front-page article about Denard Robinson deciding to stay at Michigan. What I find interesting is the 'teaser' link. It currently reads:
"Robinson Said He Considered Leaving Michgan"
Earlier this morning the exact same article was titled:
""Robinson Decides to Stay At Michigan"
Apparently someone decided that the original title was just a bit too positive?
Requisite article link (which I am sure has already been posted):

MGoBlog should be your source of all information.

is far closer to the truth than those who get well (over) paid to repost on college football. Or to paraphrase my Umich Acct prof:
MGoBlog Rulz -- ESPN Droolz!

MGoBlog should be your source of all information.
"Zero point zero"
"(Brandon) has just ensured the transfer of the Big Ten player of the year"
Hey, there was a time when I would have agreed that MGoBlog should be my source for all information. But some of the things being editorialized now - boldly, I might add - are ridiculous.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
You are quoting opinion there, not information my friend! Please recognize the difference as it will help all of us here on MGOBLOG going forward.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
With Brian it can be hard to distinguish his opinion from what he's apparently heard from insiders. The "zero point zero" comment was generally believed to be the latter.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
The issue is the blurring of those lines, is it not?
January 17th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
He showed to be the master of turning an educated guess by "insiders" into fact.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:39 PM ^
But opinion is what separates this blog. In terms of hard info, what's found here is just copying another source with just a couple exceptions in recent years.

they weren't getting enough hits, so they had to make it negative sounding so all the haterz would click on it to cluck

Solution...don't go to ESPN. Ever.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
They probably get their info from Mgoblog anyway
January 17th, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
DR did consider leaving. That was factual. So they juiced the headline, big deal. I think a lot of us are too sensitive to the negative spin we have been getting
January 17th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
If that were the case, don't you think they would be more accurate?
January 17th, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
ESPN is like a sorority...It's all about the clicks.
Hoping for an Erin Andrews vs. Hannah Storm pillow fight.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
Hannah Storm? No thanks. She can fight the winner of the Pam Ward vs. Holly Rowe cage match. Erin can pillow fight some other hot espin chick.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
Yes!! EXACTLY like that! I cannot believe I forgot her name. Thank you. and thank you Jenn.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
I mean in the professional sense of course

Hannah might take one blow and it would cave her face in. What is she like 70 lbs?
January 17th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
Erin Andrews v Hannah Storm with lots of double clicks?

That Harbaugh was a virtual lock for Michigan. And then 2 days later says "Harbaugh interest in Michigan was overrated."
January 17th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
CBS has the same headline. Sigh. Only FoxSports has maintained a positive spin.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
ESPN = TMZ
January 17th, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
ESPN is to sports as MTV is to music.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
I say if they are gonna keep showing the context as the players supporting Hoke and saying that they like them then let them title it whatever they want. Just keeps us in the headlines and creating a buzz about the new staff! This isnt a bad thing!
January 17th, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
Robinson staying was widely known before today. The story was updated today and the headline was also updated to reflect the new news. This is a common practice and a completely objective one as well.
There are a number of legitimate compaints about how MSM reports on Michigan and sports in general. This is not one of those.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
I think the important thing is that Denard thinking about transfering is still worthy of ESPN front page and it's own headline on Sportscenter.
January 17th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
we were a regional program and only the Livingston Daily Press & Argus and Chelsea Standard reported on Michigan Football headlines.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
Saw that, and had a similar reaction. I don't think it's motivated by any anti-Michigan bias or sentiment, though -- I would expect ESPN to have the same misleading headline no matter what the team in question is, because their number one goal with headlines is drawing pageviews. We just notice this typical bullshit more when our team is the subject of said headlines.
January 17th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
If you go to the SI story (from the front page link "Robinson admits he considered leaving Michigan," the headline now reads:
"Denard Robinson say he's staying at Michigan"
Is that what he say? What did your English teacher say?
January 17th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
that the whole "let's not post chicks for the sake of posting chicks" thing really went well.
