Tyler Shough (2018 Target) Gets Bama Offer
Not sure this is threadworthhy but 2018 QB Tyler Shough received an offer from Alabama per Wiltfong. Interesting QB board again with both DTR and him.

Incorrect use of meme
Incorrect, but a funny appropriation never-the-less.
I hope this doesn't change

I watched his tape and definitely liked what I saw.
And an Alabama offer at QB doesn't mean as much as it would at RB. Bama has had its fair share of duds: Phillip Sims, Cooper Bateman, and David Cornwell immediately come to mind.

Yeah, but Sims was a 5 star, and the other two just missed the 5 star threshold. Bama can recruit QB talent, so an offer does hold weight. The problem is they are terrible at coaching QBs.

Having 3 very highly rateds busts in 5 years isn't a credit to Bama.
A program that excels at evaluating/recruiting a position:
(1) avoids the overrated players
(2) and gets good/great players regardless of whether the players are underrated or rated correctly.
Also, Alabama took commitments from QBs like Alec Morris and Parker McLeod. They amounted to nothing.

Random interesting fact: Apparently Shough is pronounced like "Shuck". That is according to Sam Webb

According to Sam, Shough is correct.

My guess is we'll know in less than a week whether or not this matters.
He'll get the full court press on the 24th if things don't go well the day before (which, I was 70/30 UCLA until the spring game...now 60/40 UCLA, but fingers crossed I'm wrong).
I also think he moves up in the ratings.

pushing for him. Word is we are looking to take 2 QB's in this class so even if we land DTR we still want this kid.

Im not worried about QB at all unless unless were talking about Dorian Thompson Robsinson
I would be elated to get DTR because I want to see Harbaugh with a legit Dual Threat QB. But considering we have Speight, Mccaffrey, and Peters I seriously dont care if we get 3star Shough or not.
We are stocked with young good QB talent

An offer is a handshake ... a how you doin'... nowadays
For reference in
- 2017 Bama offered 11 QBs - PRO rated 1,2,3,9,12,13. DUAL 1,2,7,9,27. They offered 265 players in total.
- 2016 12 QBs - PRO 1,2,3,5,7,8,10. DUAL 1,3,5,6,14. Of 266 players offered.
- 2015 11 QBs - PRO 2,5,6,8,9,11,15. DUAL 2,3,4,6. Of a PALTRY 203 offers.
and so on...
Personally I think Saban is doing this just as a poke at Harbaugh. Jive Turkey style.
April 17th, 2017 at 11:56 PM ^
No idea why so many in 2018 but they currently have 19 offers out to QBs lol. 9 PRO, 10 DUAL.
Saban has perfected both over-signing and over-offering. The details are sketchy on both. Saban seems to have stolen this thing from Auburn to make his offers this year.
April 18th, 2017 at 11:59 AM ^
Michigan offered 311 players in the 2017 class, which is way more than Saban did.
April 18th, 2017 at 11:58 AM ^
Michigan offered 257 players in 2016.
Then 311 in 2017.
So far there are 204 offers in 2018.
"Tyler should get an offer."
Going to be a long day.
Anyone else find it interesting that we are taking 2 QBs in this (small) class? I could see taking 2 if we missed on DTR. But, 2 even with DTR made me curious.

Malzone seems to be on his way out. So in addition to taking 1 per class, there's an extra spot.
Also, even if Malzone were to stay (which Sam Webb was apparently insisting), he's not really an option. The other guys are far, far ahead of him.
I guess that is true. Shane out. Malzone potentially out. JOK coming up on his last year this fall.
wouldn't he have played Saturday?
I've heard he's not with the team anymore. Sam Webb, according to other posters on MGoBlog, says "Malzone will graduate from Michigan" and "He's not going anywhere."
I don't know what to believe, but he hasn't been with the team for several practices this spring. Maybe there's another explanation (some sort of personal situation), but I'm inclined to think that he will not be on the roster in 2017.
