given any kind of timetable for his decision? Staying overnight, though, does seem to be a good sign...
Ty Isaac visit turns into an overnight
...within the week (following the Michigan visit), as reported to Sam Webb.
I thought you would be here! Woot woot! Man, oh man. I'm taking this as a positive. I hope the team lands him.
The OP with so many questions!
That 2013 class would be one heck of a class if we landed Isaac in addition to all the other recruits we got.
I vote we retroactively add him in should he commit.
If we got Isaac in 2013, I doubt we would have continued recruiting Green. Now we can have both along with Smtih.
It's a pajama jammy jam.
Jamma Jamma Jamma Jamma P! J!
hopefully they party first and then slumber.
that or they just dont want to drive back in the dark. now, if they extended the visit into tomorrow, that has to be good.
There's a spot of nasty weather moving out of Iowa and into Illinois in the next few hours, so that in addition to the late hour could definitely amount to a good reason. That being said, of course, the more exposure and time that Isaac gets here with this staff, you would hope the better the possibility of him landing here. I wonder, of course, if he would go for the waiver to play right away regardless of his destination - it seems like he has indicated as much, but I could be wrong there.
Forecast is actually for storm abd rain to hit here in chicago in early morning hours and extend through all day tomorrow. So if they wanted to avoid weather I would say they would've left tonight. Therefore my conclusion is they are extending trip another day and a decision to Go Blue is imminent. /science /Skilling'd
As in "Tommy Skillethead"? (or Tom Skilling, for those not familiar with Chicago radio comedy)
FWIW, we're getting hammered here in SE Iowa right now.
Glad you're having a good night, but how's the weather?
Bad dum tiss...
I posted a similar comeback on fb last night when one of my female friends mentioned getting "pounded."
Got a decent looking storm that was coming into Omaha at around 5 o'clock, and then the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and it just disolved. Was awesome to see though, it almost looked like a super cell.
If he does truly stick around for at least some of tomorrow instead of driving directly home, that certainly can't be bad at all.
Without giving any pay walled info, can anyone share whether or not the extended stay is more than just leaving late or weather related?
I hear he went to Panchero's and his mom didn't want to risk ruining the seats in the new car. He's is in 1st Michigan House bathroom, regretting Panchero's like each and every one of us did at one point.
Man, I was excited when they put that in. I have no idea why.
It's not weather related, he is staying because he wants to. It's positive news, but that said do not expect a commit on this visit
I think his parents left and Ty stayed. At least that's what I someone alluded to on another forum.
So it's between us and Illinois?
Wait is that inappropriate?
he's over 18, so no.
I kid I kid!
I wonder if he had to ask his parents.
I'm not a trained professional like....say....Miss Cleo or anything but I think this is a VERY good sign indeed.
They're going to RICK'S!
I hope Mr. Isaac brought some Affliction t-shirts, if this is the case.
Showing him the Card catalog system at the library and which one building to go to check his email. Maybe a little of how to add or drop a class filling out a form in triplicate and having the professor sign it.
This is what happened when I visited colleges in 1993, I assume it's the same.
CRISP is ONLINE! *mind blown*
Great name. They changed it to a phone/voicemail menu for registration while I was a student. I hope the Automatons of CRISP were able to find work doing something else. Maybe they get a percentage of the registration system profits ad infinitum like the former ABA owners.
34 year-old me is like "cool, I can go to Zingermann's and get a great sandwich! Maybe a cookie too!"
34 year-old me isn't awesome.
34 is better than 44. Trust me
Um 54 here. You both win.
I was so young.
Lets change that "maybe" cookie into a "definitely" cookie
Can anyone clarify if Ty will have to sit out a year if he transfers here?
He will have to sit out a year, unless the NCAA gives him a waiver. If they give him a waiver he can only go to schools within 100 miles in order to not have to sit out. If he gets the waiver, it could potentially ruin Michigan's chances at getting him.
^within 100 miles of his home.
his parents say they will ask for a waiver on the 100 mile radius. Mom's problem is flying she has no problem driving as is evident from them driving here yesterday and back home.
I don't think it matters too much if he gets a waiver or not. The only place he could really go is Northwestern and he doesn't want to go there.
Nobody knows, that's in the NCAA's hands. If he goes to Northwestern he will not have to sit. Illinois or Notre Dame he could possibly apply for a second waiver to allow him to play immediately being that both of those locations are closer to 100 miles. If he comes to Michigan he will more than likely have to sit.
if he commits, does that mean THE PARTY ROOM was right all along?
with a million points!
THE PARTY ROOM is BK Finest.
arrangements for 2 days originally but his mother's schedule wouldn't allow it so they cut it down to a day. Based on that and if his mother left because of her schedule, I'd say it's a very good sign.
All hail RDT.
So let's say hypothetically in a world were transfers actually go Michigan's way. If he did come that would put 3 bulldozing running backs on the roster. As we have seen Thomas Rawls transferred because of this. The writing was on the wall. Could this potentially lead to Smith or Green exiting stage left? Rumors circulated that Smith was a little bit ahead of Green. So, what are your thoughts?
Rawls transferred because he wasn't very good, and had no real chance of PT.
I couldn't care less if we had 3 all in the same class. This isn't peewee football.
My thoughts are...that is a boogeyman not worrying about. Players transfer for many reasons from all teams. Often its because of PT and depth chart. Its normal and would generally indicate a positive about the roster. Nothing to see here even if it were to happen in the backfield...which there's little to no indication its coming. Talk about it if it ever does and don't worry before then.
I wouldn't say Isaac is the same type of back as Green or Smith at all. To me, he seems like a guy that you'd like to get out in space vs running between the tackles (although he can certainly do that). There was even some talk about him playing receiver in college IIRC, so I think he'd make a great threat to catch passes out of the backfield or even split out to the slot.
If you're a physical running back, then you want other guys around you to share the load; at least if career longevity is a priority for you. Bruisers who carry the ball 30-35 times a game week-in, week-out don't last very long.
The 100 mile thing is a guideline and not a hardline rule. Sam said that no matter where they go they would apply for the waiver based on the fact that a 4 hour drive isn't unreasonable and Mom can travel in a car all day with no issues with her medical condition. It is a plane trip that is difficult.
he's a much better "get" for UM if he actually has to sit a year so as not to be in same class as Green and Smith. Less valuable if waiver granted imo.
If he sits then he gains separation from Smith and Green and he fills the 2014 class void. The only question tho is weather he will be satisfied with sitting a year and then possibly being behind the other guys
in these types of situations too? I'm going to sleep buckled in, probably buckle up the dog in his house too. Can't be too safe.
Shows he is having a good time or at least a good enough time to spend the night. Would love to get Ty in a Michigan uniform!!
Must be the high thread count sheets.
Assuming the dorms don't all have king-sized pillowtop mattresses now.
Ty Isaac is still in Ann Arbor and his Michigan visit continues today. His parents went back home, however, because his father had to work today. While the visit being extended isn't a bad thing, Sam emphasizes that people should not read too much into that.
He just didn't have time to get to Zingerman's yesterday and wants another shot.
so I'm not sure if this is proper, but:
Magnus' Zingerman's comment rocks and makes me hungry! Off to my local deli in the Detroit 'burbs.
BK Finest, is that you?
What hotel is he staying at? Just put a fence around it until he's eleigible to play here.
Sometimes we make things too complicated.
If he commits, does he sign the LOI, or it's tranfer equivalent, right away? Or is there a certain period that makes it official?
MICHIGAN NEVER TAKES TRANSFERS.
May have been a good idea to bank a scholarship. Of course, little did any of us know Ty Isaac could be the guy who takes a spot.
Huh? We have scholarships to give if Isaac wants one.
all the way back to Illinois at night.
He could have gone back with his parents, who left last night, but he decided to stay overnight. But, again, as I noted above, Sam Webb said on the recruiting roundup (podcast) this morning not to read too much into that.
Brian, start the abolishment process. if he does commit today, i will eat a shoe!!!
He would be a great addition but we may need that Redshirt to stick for long term depth.
