Ty Isaac Return Week?

Submitted by Drew_Silver on

Ty Isaac is listed this week as an 'or' at the #3 RB spot (as he was last week)

Perhaps this is the week he gets himself back on the playing field?

running game was not that great vs. Indiana (although passing game seemed to work out just fine)

I wonder if PSU will attempt to take away the passing game in light of the most recent 2 games and be content watching us try to put together long drives with run plays.

i have a sense of humor, I know a joke when I see it:

A sandwhich walks into a bar, the bartender looks at him and says sorry we don't serve food here

See - it has all the classic elements, set up, delivery, punch line with a twist. people can relate to it

the guy above just wanted to see his name on a post - didn't really add to the conversation (which neither did you)

but - I guess I am being a jerk now, so I will apologize.  I am sorry for trying to talk about football on this blog, I should know the purpose of these internet pages are for people to make banal comments

Take a deep breath brah. To talk Football, I don't think PSU will try to stop our passing game. I think they will do what others have done/tried, 7 to 8 in the box to stop the run, limit us on offense. Waiting for the UFR for IU, but I saw awful secondary coverage and bad angle from their Safeties. I think PSU has better cats in the secondary.

Regarding Ty, it's none of your business. I don't know, so I should just say "No Comment." Maybe they sit him one more week and let him release his rage against the Ohio Butt-guys.

When I read the post you were upset about I thought the OP's intent was to say that Harbaugh is wiley and and does what he can to keep opponents uninformed. Since it was a plausable explaination, I thought it did add to the conversation.

I sure hope so. We need all the depth we can get. I really hope he is on the field and comes with a new mindset. He had a few good runs earlier this year and we can use them now.

performs in practice. I have this feeling he may have said the wrong things to Harbaugh after he was pulled from fumbling a month ago. I hope he's turned it around and may have gotten out of the dog house. I'm sure if his attitude and practice performance improves he will get another chance at running the ball.

In the middle part of the season, teams were stacking the box because Rudock didn't seem to be a threat to get the ball to the recievers.  That's not the only reason why our running game has been suffering, but it doesn't help.  Now all of a sudden Rudock is putting up Tom Brady numbers.  If defenses shift accordingly I expect the running game will have an uptick, regardless of who's getting the ball.

going to be interesting to see if Rudock can continue this kind of production, or anything close to this against more stout secondaries.  He and Chesson were starting to click a little even against Minnesota who has a much better secondary than either Rutgers or Indiana so I think it may be more than just the dip in competition.  If he can spread teams out it should (theoretically) really help our running game shape up.

If he was good enough to get reps he would be playing. I think his absence goes beyond his dismal play on the field and has everything to do with his attitude. Last time I recall him playing was when he had an opportunity to display his skills but fumbled the ball over and over. I think it's safe to say, he is physically gifted hover he's not a performer. He's a bust.

I think it's Peppers return week, as in this week Peppers finally gets his first punt return TD HECK YES.

... Not sure about Isaac...

Well sorry to poop on your shoes, but YOU'RE WELCOME.

Although it would be dumb to seriously guarantee a return TD of any kind given the chances are never in any team's favor except those containing a Will Likely. I just saw this as the perfect opportunity to make such a statement given the thread title. That's how my brain worked at least.

We'll see what the UFR says, but my sense is that the run game was fine.  Indiana LBs, and even safeties, were flying down to the line of scrimmage on any run action.  They sold out to stop the run, and they got burned -- I don't think I've seen a single game since the RR era where guys were getting that wide open.  On downs where they played a more sound, base defense, we were able to make decent yardage running.

we did seem to do a lot of PA passing on obvious passing downs, I wonder if this was to open the field as IU was selling out against the run

but - I doubt PSU will sell out against the run.  I don't think we will get as many big plays.  Smith seems to be a little banged up, not sure if he can handle 20 carries against the PSU offense.

Same thing with Johnson - I doubt the 2 of them can both carry the ball combined for 35 times - we are going to need to use at least 3 backs

It wasn't just obvious passing downs; it was 1st & 10, second and medium, everything.  And they would have been crazy to stop doing it, since Indiana was vacating the center of the field whenever we asked them to.  I'm guessing they either (1) didn't think Rudock could beat them through the air consistently or (2) didn't think they could stop the run out of a base defense, or both.

I doubt Penn State will underestimate Rudock,  and I bet they think they can stop the run without having to abandon coverage help from LBs and safeties.  No doubt we'll have to be ready to slowly make our way down the field against them.

I too wouldn't mind seeing one more chance for Isaac, but he can't make the kinds of huge errors he's prone to making and expect to get snaps.  There's a reason Houma is getting tailback carries.

Would like to see a return from him. His absence has been quite bizarre, other than the fumbles and maybe some blitz pickups he seemed quite viable back there. Head was probably in the wrong place. Hope he can turn things around and be an asset to the team.

"During his sophomore year, Perry had wanted to transfer from Michigan after coach Lloyd Carr accused him of being selfish. Perry's mom wouldn't let him leave."

We can only hope Ty Isaac turns into something approaching Chris Perry, esp his senior year. That would be nice

this is pretty much the end of the road for him

its now or never.

I know its heretical to say - but I wonder if he would have done better under a more 'player's coach' model of motivation.  (which is not to say I want hoke back - not willing to sacrifice the entire roster improvement for 1 guy)

whether Ty Isaac is having attitude issues... But it sure seems like Stribling is at the front of Harbaughs shit parade. He came off the field after a unsportsman like penalty and kind of turned away from Harbaugh as Jim was trying to tell him what he might alternatively do in the future. Then another coach came over giving Strib's a real bad time like he was Stribs mom screaming at him in a pay attention to your father yell. Like you are already in the dog house so do not  push it.
