The first clip (ESPN) was all I needed to see; a back catching the ball out of the backfield, running through tackles and away from some would be tacklers, and "falling forward."

I think that you're entreaties will be answered my maize and blue friend.

The combination of experience and the lack of Borges' overly complex and continually changing schemes will be a HUGE lift for the offense and the OL in particular.

Also, I think that Nuss is going to be a far more effective motivator than Borges was.  I never got the sense that Al was able to get the most out of the kids all the time.  Obviously, there are some unknowns about Nuss and how he'll motivate Michigan's players, but I just have a feeling that we're going to see a much more motivated looking offensive squad.

I agree with the motivation factor. I didn't belive in Borges as a motivator and I also kind of felt he may have not been the best teacher as well.

He very well may not have been the best teacher either.  I have to imagine that his ineffectiveness was made all the more acute by the fact that he was constantly trying to teach something new to young and inexperienced guys.

There was definitely a disconnect there and having something more direct and simple for the O line to practice, over and over, I hope produces immediate results.

Even without an OC change, I feel good about the OL improving.  I typically don't like the "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link" analogy because it's so often misappied, but I think it's close in terms of the offensive line.  The strength of an OL has more to do with how good the worst guy is than how good the best guy is.  Sure, last year we had Lewan and Schofield on the ends, and they were rarely beat.  But when one of the inexperienced and undersized guys on the inside get beat, it really doesn't make a damn bit of difference if Lewan has plowed his guy into the turf.

This year, we will have a line consisting of 4 guys with starting experience and a solid competition for the 5th, meaning he will have earned it, and will have to continue earning it or he'll get pulled.  We might not have a single All-Big Ten guy in the group, but the line as a whole will be better.

If these clips are any indication, I look forward to many productive runs by Ty when we are up 48-14 on teams midway through the 3rd quarter.

Seriously though, the Fresno State catch & run was quite nice. Hopefully we'll see a lot that in the future, as that would help Devin out a ton against pressure.

ONE cut, then North and South.

He doesn't dance.  He doesn't run laterally.  He makes ONE explosive cut to daylight and then GOES upfield.  This was clear in his high school film and he is still doing it in college.  This kid knows how to run the football.  This is a running style that, IMO, bodes very well for success at the college level.

Give him seams and he is going to get yards.

I know Green has a lot of potential, but I saw a lack of balance and some really questionable footwork.  Can I properly judge Isaac on some film against Fresno State and Cal?  No.  But I love his APPROACH to running the football.  Let's hope our O-Line give him some seams and then I think we'll see that he can do some pretty good stuff with them.

Agree Jamie.  My issue with Green was he seemed to lack balance and was easily brought down.  Almost always one hit and down.  Even on plays where he had some room.  It looked a lot like Rawls out there.  Again with the caveat he is a freshman but I don't know if you fix "balance" that well.

Smith was a much better center of gravity type of back who was not brought down on first impact but I didn't see the same cutting ability that Green had.  He is like a battering ram but he needs to find space better.

It will be interesting to see which ends up better - they both have what I consider key weaknesses (lack of vision or lack of balance)

Ty is a big get for Coach Hoke and the program.

We needed a little mojo booster.

Is this like asking out a hot chick and getting turned down.

THEN going back again and having her say yes?

I have to fess up I've never dated any hot chicks so help a brother out.  Average was always my style of female.
